He's not close enough.

Although my current policy is to get this finished ASAP, so expect somewhat fast updates.

What happened to the messengers Arundel sent south? The man is alone and ahorse, he should be pretty fast.

And why did Theo's forces remain at the gate for a full turn?

PS: His last orders said to have them move to Laisha's army, not the beach, if you use these to determine the ranger's action. Besides, since Theo is still alive IC I doubt he would be stupid enough to face half the snake cult army in battle. That's not what a ranger would act like, rather retreat, seek cover, cause casualties from afar.

Eli was supposed to be on alert and looking for any sounds of battle or any shouting, so he's probably heard something, no? It's not that much of a distance from outside into the mess hall, and it's a straight tunnel that winds right in there - I think that sound would travel pretty fast and clear in those circumstances.

1.) This guy is on a wild chase and has a long distance to travel. I guess this is spoilers, but he will arrive at Theo's position next turn.
2.) Because checking the gate's immediate area and waiting for any confirmation? (=Because I'm an idiot)
3.) Theo's orders I'm using: "Theo should die at some point in this event. Make it easier for you and kill him before he reaches the gate (Note: ignored), then make his rangers move toward the beach.". Also, it is probably somewhat poor wording on my part, but the rangers are preparing ambush-like strategies.

Marcus:
Your orders: "Wait outside, Eli... I'm going inside first. If you hear sounds of battle from the inside, act as you wish." He may have heard you. And he may have other things to worry about.

Also note that Caravels are the gigantic ships in meta-game.

@ Marcus : The Caravel is a war ship, one of the heaviest available while the Barque is the fast, light ship. Basically the descriptions were reversed Smile

Ambush-like strategies in open terrain? Well...

How did you calculate the casualties? Since these are rather big numbers involved I would prefer if the autocalc formulae were used.

I used the one present Legion Event Summary. I rounded the casualties to make it easier to keep tabs on them though (saved 2-3 Halberdiers if I remember correctly).

Well, what do you know. Guess they'll have to run away then. I didn't notice that, so thanks!

Awesome. When the event is done, could you give us a feedback as to whether their results seemed reasonable throughout the battle (especially when confronting extreme numbers like large vs. small)?

A caravel is not exactly a gift-horse. Or even a gift. It's not even close to a horse, it's a ship with masts and sails and all.

In any case, I wasn't complaining there. It was rather me playing stupid in order to make people laugh.

Note to players:
I'm planning to update this night (not sure when exactly). So if you haven't posted yet, do so soon, please.

Edit. Done. Now you can start the usual interrogation about why things hapened...

Soldiers are aiming at you, and Kyros is leading his troops through another entrance.

Does each ballista kill at most one enemy per turn?

I throw 2d6 (the number of hits) and confirmation (2+) for each one. So techincally two ballistae can kill 2.

Oh, I had expected a ballista bolt to crush through a least one taget and be able to kill more than one enemy. I usually take the ballistae from Rome or Medieval II as reference.

The problem is that Ballistae lack any sort of model for calculating casualties, or at least stats. I can move to 3d6, though. Although yours were behind thick lines so it isn't too unrealistic, I hope.

Yeah, they should not be overpowered. Thing is, if they hit, especially a close formation of soldiers they will cause a lot of casualties, but they will not hit each time. What about a hit-roll then a damage roll with increased casualties for each ballista?

(Number of ballistae) x d6 (3+), (Number of hits) x d3 casualties? When using on tight formations.

So each ballista has a 2/3 chance of hitting and can kill 1 to 3 people? Sounds good.
