OOC: Hope you approve with me making a topic Wink

Sir Silnord and the two silvermist rangers who accompanied Aelos, were just returning to the Clarion Hall as he entered Deloria Castle.

The sun was almost down and he promised Iskar he also would return to the Clarion Hall after discussing his plans with Sir Kamos and the other knights of his Order.

He turned to the closest guard and spoke
'Go and tell Sir Kamos I am here to report for duty' realising he hadn't eaten since he left Sarleon this morning he added 'After you show me the way to the kitchens'.

The guard gets a perplexed look on his face, almost confused. Scratching his head he speaks.

An just who are you exactly? I haven't received any word about newcomers into the castle. I can't go lettin in anyone cause there are assassins out there you know!

Now it was Aelos' turn to look perplex, thinking a griffon emblem on his chest and the fact the he came here escorted by two silvermists rangers should at least mean..something

'Look at me fool! I am obviously a member of the Griffon Order'

The castle guard looks smug as if pleased with himself. Crossing his arms with a pleased smile he continued.

Yeah an some of them folk at the parade wore the right uniforms to but all they did was cause more trouble. I'll be tricked so easily.

Aelos' bursts into laughter... and then put the pointy end of his sword under the guards nose

'If you want trouble...' he paused, lowering his sword till the guards belt.

'I hear they fancy eunuchs in Veccavia'

The guard looks flustered and worried as he keeps his eyes switching from the blade to Aelos. His comrade across next to him lowers his spear but is hesitant to make a move against a sword armed opponent.

Then an Ebony Gauntlet patrol from courtyard spy the altercation and step in to stop things from getting bloody. Their lead member speaks up.

"And just what in the hells is going on here!"

Aelos, who was getting more irritated by the second, glared at the Gauntlet member

'Ah Good! I just caught these two men spreading rumors about your respectable Order' he said while shifting the swordpoint towards the second guard and then back to the first. Then he added in another smirk: 'Something saying that those ugly grunts of the Ebony Gauntlet are trying to destroy everything good about humanity and secretly adoring the male Noldor?'

The Gauntlet Sargent simply rubbed his eyes displaying signs of fatigue. It's clear he's been patrolling for some time and is in no mood for games as made clear by his long grim face.

Now I am acting as a guard and am here to offer cooperation and aid to the Duke on behalf of the Ebony Gauntlet in official capacity. As such will not be lured into violence or confrontation by petty provocations. I'll only ask this once, why are you here and why do you have your sword at this simple mans crotch?

Aelos lowered the swordpoint till it touched the ground and turned towards the guard,

'I am a sellsword hired to kill the Duke, now that you stopped my attempt you'd better bring me to Sir Kamos' he paused, then he realised his mistake: 'uhm..Alive and Well.. '

he then sheathed his sword and walked slowly toward the grim-faced Gauntlet member

The Sargents eyes are flat and hard showing no signs of emotion. Stone faces he replies.

Fine, we'll escort you to the main hall since our shift is ending anyways. From there we can send out for Sir Kamos.
Take his weapon for the time being.

He motions his men to surround Aelos and one moves to take his sword.

"You pointed your sword at a guard and claimed to be an assassin. Jest or no I will not be the one to allow you near the food."

The Gauntlets begin crossing the courtyard with Aelos in tow and it doesn't take long before they are in the Grand Hall. Most of the Gauntlet members take a seat and Sir Kamos is sent for. Currently the hall is home to most off duty Knights.

Sir Kamos enters the room with another Griffon Knight and walks up to the Ebony Gauntlet Sargent. After a short discussion he walks over to Squire Aelos looking slightly agitated. After getting a good look he starts to speak.

Ah yes I recognize this squire Sargent you can go relax.

"It would be my pleasure." The Sargent leaves to go relax.

As for you now Aelos. Why have you been causing so much trouble now? In fact, why are you here unannounced?

Aelos, feeling a bit embarrassed by his latest actions, moves uneasy

'I am sorry, Sir Kamos, I have not been myself after I heard about the death of the kind Sir Roland'

after he was lost in thought for a moment and whispering some sort of prayer, he continued

'For my reasons to be in Laria, I was under the assumption that perhaps a fresh and new eye could see things that the current investigators might have missed'

Sir Kamos takes a seat and holding his chin with his arms crossed thinking deep and pensively for a moment. His eyes shifting as they calculate things only he can see. Then a smirk creeps across his face.

Perhaps this can be of some benefit. At current all the Griffon Knights uphold their duty to guard the Duke. However I am blind here and perhaps I'm just to overly cautious but I don't want to shift men out of the castle. However with you around you could be my eyes and ears in the city as opposed to having to rely on the Silvermist entirely. As you are unannounced you could take any form you wished. Your current maverick behavior might even be beneficial.

He returned to his stare for a moment.

Likely you should pose as a sellsword. If so swap out your Griffon chainmail for an unmarked set.

He looked at Aelos with his eyes shifting from calculations to a more warm and friendly state.

What do you think then? Think your up to it?

Aelos seemed relieved for an instant, but it was shortlived when he realised that this plan could not work

'Although I would gladly fulfill my duties in any way you seem fit, it seems that both the Lord Constable of the Silvermists and a small party of Gauntlet members are aware of my presence'

he paused for a moment, looking his silver encrusted sword, and then continued

'The Gauntlet Sargent could have an accident on his way back, but Sir Iskar will not be fooled into believing I am a mere sellsword'

A flicker of anger washed across his face and his jaw clenches for a moment. His face quickly levels out however.

We don't arrange 'accidents' and we're here to stop them. Honor isn't worth the air it takes to say but I wouldn't resort to such things anyways. Save that for your tavern talk.

I can talk with the Sargent concerning you and to the Lord Constable easily enough, I'm sure they'll understand the need for discretion.

He glanced at the sword belt.

Your sword might be a bit much for a sellsword but it could be a family heirloom of a trophy. After all we wouldn't want you to be a low quality sellsword. We want a sellsword above thug work and into more organized endeavors I think. If nothing else you can hear what there is to be heard outside the castle.

Aelos smirked

'very well, but if the rumours about the Gauntlets are true, I'd rather not find myself dead in some alley.'

he gave Sir Kamos a look, as if to convince him the 'accident' was the best way to handle things.. but he dared not say it again

'I will don the name of Ergo, a sellsword from Barclay!' [i] he added improving his smirk into a boasting laugh.

His face remained calm and straight as if chiseled in stone for the moment.

Take whatever name you like so long as you can be convincing.

He rose up from his seated position.

Now go change out your equipment in the Dukes armory and get me some information from that city.

He turned and walked over to the Sargent getting him up and leading him away from the other Gauntlets.

Aelos wondered if maybe Brynden would be a better name
'Yes, Brynden of Barclay has a finer ring to it'
the sellsword made his way to the armory, wondering what armor would suit a mercenary from the mighty Barclay.

The Armory was full of fine swords and strong armor, but nothing really got Brynden's fancy..till his eyes gazed upon a red colored chainmail and yellow shield bearing a red pegasus.

'Aah this will do perfectly!' he laughed when he donned the battle-worn chainmail and held the shield at shoulder height.

when he walked trough the castle gates, wearing a hooded cloak to hide his face from the plebs, his smile died on his face. After the death of Sir Roland, he had become more reckless and arrogant, and he wondered if this new role would lead him further down the path of blood that he so feared.

A few streets into the lower districts he tossed down the cloak and started to walk like a glorified sellsword, bragging his way through Laria's taverns

OOC: Well, I actually dunno about the intention. I guess gathering gossip and information from the taverns. offering my services to shady dealers who might know something about what's going on in Laria.

[OOC: Iskar sent a messenger to the castle and Azlanek authorised me to directly roleplay him here.]

Soon after the first smoke was seen over the slums of Laria, the clippety-clop of hooves on stone was heard as a Silvermist Ranger on a saddle horse sped into the courtyard. He brought his horse to a sudden stop and jumped of the saddle almost before it stood completely still, waving a startled groom to take care of it, while he hurried off towards the keep. Upon reaching the guards at its entrance he said:

Sir Kelren of the Silvermist. I have important news from the Lord Constable and need to speak to the duke and Sir Kamos immediately!

For a brief moment one of the guards steps forward.
Well how do I know you're-
Before being cut off by a mounted Griffon Knight that was making his way to the gate with a partner. Glaring at the guard he cuts him off mid sentence.
Shut it you imbecile!
Shifting his focus back to the Silvermist Ranger he speaks again
Do you bring news of the smoke rising from the West? Regardless they should both be in the tower.

Sir Kelren gave the Griffon knight a quick thankful nod and hurried on through the door, grabbing the next servant crossing his path to show him the way to where Sir Kamos and the duke were at the moment. He found them in a council chamber overlooking the western parts of the city.

Your Grace, Sir Kamos, he said upon entering the room and accompanied the greeting by a slight dignified bow that indicated him to be one of the higher born members of the order.

The duke seemed to be too tired for extended ceremonies. He just nodded for a greeting and beckoned Kelren to go on.

I bring important news from the Lord Constable. Our informants have confirmed that a riot has broken out in the slums. Whether it is part of a scheme or just the consequence of the general tension among the populace, we do not know yet. In any case, however, the assassins might try to use the turmoil to their advantage. We therefore implore you not to thin out the castle guards.

The duke frowned and asked: And how do you think should I then deal with this uprising? Wait until they have burned my whole city to the ground?

Sir Kelren was quick to reply: Not at all, your Grace. We have already taken measures to deal with this new problem. 500 men under arms should arrive at the city around dawn from our adjacent holdings - the Isenfeld hills, the Farhill marches and the Silverwood forests. Together with the city watch they should be able to enforce a temporary order in the slums as well as reinforce the efforts to extinguish the fire. Furthermore we have allocated 2000 denari to buying large quantities of food and drink in order to appease the poor - he smiled for a moment upon adding - plenus venter non rebellat libenter, as they say in the empire. Furthermore we have requested the help of the temple in order to appeal to what little righteousness is left in the minds of the rioting plebs.

As for immediate actions, all our men patrolling the street and those having waited at the Clarion Hall are under arms and ready to move out. Together with the men of the city watch they should be able to contain the uprising until the reinforcements arrive in the morning.

This brings me to my last point: If these plans please you, I would be grateful if you could direct me to the captain of the city watch so as to coordinate our moves.

Having finished his slightly hasty speech, he looked to the duke and Sir Kamos, awaiting their reactions and responses.
