| This thread is for all OOC discussion pertaining to the joust.
One thing which occurred to me (and Ana too I think); I would announce who the combatants are, and recieve the intro post by PM, and then post them both up yourself. This will prevent the 2nd poster being able to build a strategy dependant on the first poster's post. This keeps things more fair, and prevents one being able to react to the other.

| I absolutely agree.
I would also propose a general format, as I wasn't sure how to go about PMing the details to Aelos. My PM consisted of:
The roll IE guard/speed/headshot. A brief description of what is actually taking place, mine was a mere one sentence.

| Just a clarification: are "aimed hit" and "acrobatics" special moves, that is, allowed to only some orders?
Also: from my experience with the Arena PMs, I would also suggest to keep PMs to the bare minimum, and leave the RP for the IC thread. Too many words often confuse the host, who then has to guess what you were thinking.

| Perhaps I will enter with Lucius Valerius at some point - Marcus is no horseman - to test my wings. | |

Neither is Boar! You'd be on equal footing with me, heh.

| I believe it was said at some point that the Orders would be irrelevant for the joust. Otherwise the risk of a tie is increased.
Ana is supposed to excellent on a horse, and she's about to lose to the Boar!
Realistically all she has to do is stay on her horse for a few minutes and the one carrying Boar will fall over dead!

| Yeah, good luck with that. Boar could punch a plate-armoured Ana without a gauntlet and still expect to knock her unconscious. His fists are so massive that they pass as maces on their own. | |

| Oh I didn't see this thread.. I just made an OOC thread myself I first wanted to post most actions myself.. but then I thought that the introduction part of your character would be nice to do yourself, creating a persona/special tourney armor etc. I want to keep your characters, your characters at all time. Therefore I just want to post how the crowd/herald reacts on the outcome, and the herald calling forth the next two jousters. | |

| Slight chance in plans, as this is the first time jousting, and we are always searching for perfection, we made the following adjustments:
Winner writes the fight with both characters, sends it to the loser for verification. The loser then adds some, and posts. instead of both characters posting the same joust (so pretty much a double post)
The Rock Paper system has some altercations, also we will add some GM input to the outcome plus a random factor;
* Rock Paper system, each smashes one move, and beats the second. So for instance +3 for Headshot Vs Guard, +2 for Headshot Vs Acrobatics, +1 if not mentioned. * GM allocation for cleverness of the move; 1-3 points each. * Random factor; 1-3 points each.
Highest number wins the round. Draw results in the two Knights not unseating each other, and the fight happens again (roleplay the draw though).
So for this it could have been;
Boar; +3 : Guard vs Speed +2 : Sweep's effectiveness against small figures (this would be a -1 or even -2 against larger opponents) +1 : Random =6
Ana; +1 : Speed Vs Guard +1 : Using speed against the massive Boar (can basically hit him anywhere, its about momentum) +2 : Random = 4
Boar Wins. | |

| If you're going to use GM discretion, remove the stats entirely. | |

I'm afraid that will be very difficult.. I'd like to try this first.

| Keep in mind then, that rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock is based upon the idea of each option beating two other options, and being beaten itself by two options. To apply unequal values to each potential outcome will need signficant tinkering before the first match. You'll also have to re-sort the jousting themed names, as they were more or less randomly assigned to what-beats-what, not with any logic behind it. If you're going to add value to clever RP, you'll need to fix that so they all make sense. Have fun with that! | |

| hmmm, perhaps (if both parties agree) the next joust will be decided by RP alone.
I will weigh multiple factors of both characters based on skill, build and the pm'ed tactic. But I will need more info about your character in you PM, not only the tactic, but if not already posted in the stat's thread, also your skill with lance/riding and your character's build, meaning: tall/short and heavy/light.
We started with all RP, made up several other options, and are back with RP... interesting.

| sorry for the double posting,
I know that normally the victor gets the armor and horse of the one he/she defeated. But since most will be using Order armor, I'd like to ignore this.

| The RP should certainly be the biggest factor (and I always like a little random factor in things like this, lady luck will not always smile on the super elite characters). Not too sure what the qualm is regarding the rock / paper scissors is though, how could this be abused?
The first fight was always going to be something of a trial run. This concept is completely un-tested and likely to be tweaked quite a bit. I have no problem running Boar Vs Ana again properly when things are more solid. Call these warm up bouts rather than the Tournament proper.

| The rock-paper-scissors thing was just to introduce a degree of randomness that didn't involve dice throwing. The original intent was to keep it very simple and just have the joust as a side-line event for the main Arena competition.
I don't see many options for creative moves like Boar went with. Again I admit I know very little about jousting, but it seems it was based more on effectively one held a lance aimed at one body part or another while letting the horse provide the power. If that is in fact the case, then basing it on RP is likely to just get outlandish. If those with more experience in jousting would correct me, I would be happy to become enlightened.
Certainly stats can be added to decrease the randomness, but without a multitude of options for each character playing to their strengths, it is simply stacking the deck. If stats are the preferred way to go, make it best two out of three instead of an immediate unhorsing.
