I'm split so I have no vote I guess.

For the moment, I haven't seen anything in any of the events I have access to that is really necessary to keep secret. IE, I haven't seen any big bombshells that are so important it would be difficult for everyone to keep their knowledge and their character's knowledge apart. Which means I would prefer to just read every event, as it would help keep us occupied when we wait for a GM post or such.

On the other hand, I definitely appreciate the requests for secrecy. I can see situations where we wouldn't want to open ourselves up to the potential for metagaming.

Sidenote: In all my RPs we've used metagaming for taking OOC info IC. But we have the 'metagame' now, so that could be confusing. Do you guys have another term for that?

In the future do you want all events to be open? It is possible to have them read-only, though you may want to participate in the OOC threads (though the Den can be used for those).

I'd vote no.

Major events, sure. Mini-events? No.

That's just me though.

Mordred, how do you do those hex-maps? I probably have to prepare the battlefield for the armies...

@Mordred: That would greatly reduce the use of spies. If orders want to know what is going on outside their holdings, let them work for it.

A general level of rumours can however be maintained.

@Ana: The so called metagame was introduced under the title of "Manifest Destiny" and we sometimes refer to it as MD.

I know those, I meant the term metagaming as one of the three great sins of RP.

So know I, that was why I suggested for you to use the term Manifest Destiny instead.

Yeah I must admit it has made the King a rather more rounded character. Interesting how just an image can force perceptions in such a way.

Mordred, don't you know that eye-rolling is a sin?

Don't worry, the Dawn has a new policy for the purging of sin. I'll give you a hint, it will make you buuuurn!

I've always liked that image. It made me stop thinking of Mordred as King Cailen from Dragon Age Origins.

Incipiently its a technique I use when actually writing. I assign each character an actor or actress, and from there can more easily visualise their character, profile and traits.

Erik the Red
“Burn them. They were cowards and liars, they will never see the doors of Valhalla. Place their heads on pikes at the harbour entrance as a reminder of who rules here.
Spoiler:

Leif Erikson
“You would of course perceive the additional significance of the tree from Saxon lore, the tree representing Wotan. Just because we are Vikings and follow Christ... or the other Norse gods, does not mean that we won’t look for a little helping hand from other deities.”
Spoiler:

Adalwolf
“I should leave that where it is” intoned a voice from the darkness. This man, waxed black hair glittering from the light from the fireplace, stepped into view, sword held casually. The thug removed his hand from the knife handle, instantly sober to the threat, and stepped back with his hands raised.
Spoiler:

Kai
“By Odin’s missing eye, who the Hel are you stranger?” Erik managed, still gasping.

“I am Kai Miklagardson, retired, of the Varangian Guard”

Spoiler:

Really helps visualise them doesn't it?

No matter how good the choices are, and how well they fit... Obi-Wan as Leif Erikson.

I can't help but smile.

That guy from 'Arthur'.. I base all(!) my Mount&Blade characters on.

Big fan. Feel grand cutting trough enemy's line with him wielding a 2H battle axe.

Yeah I love that guy! He is the inspiration for Frederick of Mettenheim, and was of Erik the Red (though I changed his personality, so what was Erik became what is now Kai).

Must say that I don't see anything of that guy back in the old Mettenheimer.
Cerdic was ruthless, cold and not afraid to sacrifice his own man to gain the upper hand.

Its more Cerdic and the Forlorn Hope, in both of them being tired and resigned to their fate to die in battle. Frederick admittedly is more jovial than is perhaps normal for that particular group.

This makes me want to play M&B again. Leading khergit armies into the mountains with your small group of Nord veterans and kill all the horses beneath them with my axe and create a pool of khergit blood.

And then to think my heart was pumping and I was certain my small army would be wiped out by the 120+ Khergits that chased me up there. Greatest and longest battle I ever fought in that game.

In australia we are treated to resounding battles with 3 people...

I wish there were more people for CRPG mod, that was fun times.

I was good at running around like a spaz and Kill stealing.
