He had no sword tough, and he was very angry, he quickly scroled hes look trough room, and then noticed his Grandmaster look. "I know i am late! But they dont let me to get my sword in. To enter the room surrounded by.." Zekic looked at one of silvermists guard "them! without my trusty sword! Madness!"

| The conversation had been so hot that Marcus couldn't even put a comment inbetween the words - if that would've been heard over all the fighting that was now going on - and was forced to listen. The tainted wine was one of his favourites - Eventide humour was something he grew accustomed to during Stormcliff Clove, and he noticed that he simply loved it. But as for his turn to speak, he had failed to capitalize on Sir Celdiur's arrival, and Gods knew when the next Knight arrived. Abruptly he heard the in fallible clink-clink of somebody's plate-and-mail closing up, and moments later a tall Knight of the Ebony Gauntlet entered, overzealous as ever with his distrust for Silvermists. That wasn't his goal now, however. Marcus put effort into completely ignoring the knight, but turned to face the too-proud-for-comfort Griffin woman. She needed a tongue-lashing, and far more for just showing disrespect. Perhaps this could be capitalized, somehow...
"Isn't it your very task to keep our Kingdom unified, miss Knight, not plant seeds of discontent at the very footsteps of our beloved King? Or are you simply representing your 'Venered Judicator' here, my good Griffin? However venered and respected he is, he has his own goals. Don't you think that a Griffin, a King's bodyguard, with such strong affections to other matters than the King's safety - lashing your tongue like a girl on her period, disrespecting the King's vassals, spreading discomfort all around the Orders... miss Knight, being a Dawnite-turned-Griffin does not give you such rights, he said, his steely tone lightly touched by irony. Perhaps it would only goad the woman into further folly, which could already be used against her... and against her Order.
Aside from tongue-lashing, his words hid another meaning altogether beneath a layer of scolding. He planted the necessary seeds that could grow into a distrust of the Griffin - amongst the Orders, at least - and perhaps even the King would eventually hear of it. With care and regular feeding, they could lose their position. If these seeds grew. If it even was possible. But even in spite of her encouraging, he could not allow himself to be overly committed at bashing the Knights of the Griffon. The Gauntlets were the first ones to fall, and even if that moment would be a long distance in the future, he already waited eagerly for it. It was one of the few things he thought were worth living for.

| Lady Laisha pinched the bridge of her nose, but otherwise ignored the banter in the room as she entered, slipping past an apparently flustered Ebony Gauntlet as she did. She bore the colors of the Clarion Call on her clothing. She made her way around the table, eventually reaching Iskar.
Tapping him on the soldier, she said, "The arrangements are in place, constable. The halberdiers outside of these doors should never have to worry about uninvited guests, assuming the Griffons and rangers outside do their jobs." She paused a moment, watching as Sir Marcus berated a Griffon knight. "Of course, one would have to be insane to interrupt this gathering...."

| Sir Kamos audibly sighed from his reclined chair position while watching the constant squabbles between the various Orders and Knights. His eyes shifted to something of a scowl making the scar on his cheek more visible and reminding him of the days where he had respected enemies. Damned nostalgic.
Finally he rose calmly as can be and cross his arms while surveying the room. He clenched his jaw just before speaking but otherwise showed little emotion. In a bold, deep, yet even tone he spoke.
"Enough of this idle banter and prattling that's not what we're here for wouldn't you say? We've obviously been called together to discuss an issue and yet all we can discuss are the minor features of other people in the room. As delightfully shortsighted and divisive as that may be I somehow suspect such attitudes will need to be left in the dust for the time being."
Looking down at Isabel and quieting down.
"Try not to agitate the allies of the Kingdom to much now will you. As if life isn't hard enough." Rolling his eyes.

| Aelos was just standing there, silent as a shadow during a conversation that infuriated him so much. But when the Legion Grandmaster spoke about dishonesty and hinted at treason of his Order.
He was about to ensure him of the Griffon's loyalty to the King, when his knight master spoke. A man who's word would be respected by everyone present, and no one would defy the kicker of queens that easily.
Aelos had to keep his tongue.

| Sir Azrael almost laughed at the scolding of Isabel. The Shadow Legion grandmaster had clearly not lost his sharp tongue. Not to mention this saved him from the problem of having to do it himself. Perhaps she would learn even a tidbit of humility from this meeting. However, the conversation was slowly escalating into a brawl and Kamos' speech was a welcome change of pace for constant pointless bantering.
"Sir Kamos raises a valid point. We should hear this issue before we all are at each others' throats."
He then turned to the lord constable of Silvermists.
"Can we begin, or are there people or events we are still waiting for?"

| Jareth was nearly the first to arrive this day. To his left and his right he saw many Halberdiers guarding the entrance and exit to this huge building. He didn't mind to abandon his sword and axe. If it would come to a fight he was sure that he could beat at least 2 Halberdiers and get their weapons. The moment his thought ended he remembered that the Silvermists were allies, the ones he should worry about were the ones inside the Chamber with Marcus. Oh how he pitied them. Marcus temper was nearly legendary, it was a nice change that he was not the one who would have to listen.
Clad in full armor he was standing in the Hallway leading to the meeting chamber. He leaned against a wall with his arms entwined before his breast. He had clear orders from his Grandmaster. He always had a good memory so his Grandmaster ordered him to take note of everyone entering. Maybe he was able to read something on their faces when they were still preparing to enter the meeting.
He wasn't needed during the meeting, Marcus was there and even Lucius. There would be need for another voice adding some confusion, from the sound coming down the Hallway he heard that there was enough confusion already.
He saw some strange people entering. One Clad in black Chainmail and Leather entered so silently he nearly didn't notice him. But his walking was funny to look, it was as if he was sliding across the floor, he couldn't even hear any footsteps even though the echo through hall was sometimes very loud. Some people he remembered like Sir Aranor or Sir Kamos but the most were new to him.
The weirdest moment was yet to come. Just before Jareth was drifting of into thought he heard a noise coming closer to him, it was the clanging of Metal. He took a step away from the wall and looked down the hall. In the distance he saw someone clad in black rushing towards the meeting chamber. The sound got louder and louder and as the Knight past before him he thought he went deaf. Jareth covered his ears until the Knight stopped inside the chamber. He didn't remember the Knight from anywhere before so he guessed he was an Eventider, that was making him an potential thread, Jareth only hoped the wouldn't have to fight him indoors, everyone would be confused by the sound.
As he looked to his left he saw two halberdiers still standing in their position, they didn't even flinch when that ding dong guy passed. He hoped they were deaf, if not they were better trained than he thought.

| Thank you, Laisha, Iskar replied in a low voice, then added something in an even lower voice before turning to Sir Kamos and the rest of the chamber, raising his voice a bit so he could actually be heard.
Unless I receive different orders the meeting will be opened by our grandmaster, until then you are free to talk yourself into trouble as much as you want, as long as you do not start a fight, he added with a smirk.

| Lucius stood up with his wine in one hand, taking advantage of the temporary silence.
Gentlemen. As the king's representatives and agents throughout Pendor and the World, we are sworn to uphold peace and justice amongst its denizens. This goal has been made achievable by the efforts of ourselves, and our predecessors, who put aside their petty squabbles for the good of the realm.
With this, Lucius glared pointedly at the small group of bickering knights nearby.
In the years since the Unification, our orders have been blessed with good fortune, and while we may not agree on all points, we have cooperated in order to spread the King's law through the land. So, in the spirit of this cooperation, I would like to thank the Silvermists for their organisation of this affair, and their obvious commitment to common cause, regardless of any other disagreements we may have.
Nodding to Iskar, Lucius drank deeply from his cup, and sat back down.

| Saeros was mumbling loud enough for those close to him to listen "The Church? The Sword? That is a flawed metaphor. There isn't one sword, but at least six, and every one of them is sitting at this table. And how many religious factions are there today? Three? Four? For a single goddess? Now if you count the Northern and Eastern gods and you will have at least a dozen!"
He then looked at the Ebony Gauntlet grandmaster
"Pendor is a large kingdom, and people's minds are not the same. What one calls justice means the death of another. And another may preach the anihilation of an entire race for his idea of peace. This is what happens when the land is ruled by force, not by law. Everyone does what he wants."

Aelos looked around the room, at everyone present.
"That is our Law, no matter what you say."

| "Until our king dies. Until someone stronger takes his throne. Until he becomes sick and feeble minded. Then what? The king's law must be made eternal, they should not be valid only while he is alive and sane. His Majesty Mordred is the best Pendorian king in centuries. What is the chance of us having another one of that? We cannot risk it. We need to establish strong laws to secure our kingdom's stability." | |

| "The prince, young Valdemar, will be as good a King as his father is."
Aelos stepped closer to the table, finally stepping completely out of the shadow.
"The Griffons will uphold their Laws, and protect them from every threat. Do not worry about the sanity of our King. Let us not forget that we have had no Pendorian King in centuries, so don't say we did."

| "You say that based on... a hope? The kindom's fate needs more than to hang on mere hope." Saeros paused "Poinsbruk shifted hands about five times in the last decade. The townsfolk was submitted to three different kings, and had to obey to three different and ever-changing sets of laws. It does not really matter if it was a Pendorian or a regional king."

| Iskar came over to them, joining the discussion.
I have to agree with Saeros there, Aelos. The natures of kings are not to be forseen by the living and even a good king might be overthrown by ambitious nobles. Therefore it is the duty of the good and valorous kings to establish laws and constitutions that carry their own glorious heritage to later centuries. If a king is good, his subjects will admire him and maybe people in later centuries might appreciate his exploits for the realm during his lifetime, but imagine what glory a king can earn by making a good order and just laws the eternal foundation of wealth and peace in the realm. He would be praised as the greatest ruler in all centuries to come. Therefore I agree that we need good and strong laws that eternalise the just rule of King Mordred I.

| "Actually, it does. The people will recognize a Pendorian King, like they did in the old days."
Aelos pointing at various locations of the map.
"The men that called themselves Kings after the end of Cavalas' line of Kings, were all usurpers without the true claim. Darlion had it, and Mordred too."
He paused to let Iskar speak, listening intently while watching the map.
"Did Pendor not prosper under Cavalas and his sons? Were they not all great Kings? Tell me, Lord Constable of the Silvermist, why do you doubt your King?"

| Iskar frowned slightly. He always disliked having to explain something twice because people did not listen properly.
You mistake my words, squire Aelos. On the contrary, I place very high hopes in our king. But because of this, because of him being strong and just it is his duty to take precautions for the centuries to come. No two kings - not even father and son - are completely alike and if a strong and just king arises he has to establish a good and strong system of laws that will survive his own rule. Perhaps Valdemar will be less strong than his father, perhaps even stronger, we cannot know that, nor can we know what external or internal threats might overshadow his rule. One must consolidate and strengthen rule and realm while the conditions favour this endeavour.

| "Laws that should be made by the King himself, not his underlings."
Aelos turned back to Saeros, ignoring Iskar's frown.
"And that was my point, Saeros Venator, 'we' should do nothing, just trust and obey our King."

| Even a genius can make fruitful use of assissting minds and a king can never address all issues of his kingdom at once. There must always be helping hands and minds doing the preliminary work. | |

| I should think that a king would prefer subjects helping him on their own account, with their own ideas, in contrast to mindless servants that only act when ordered. However, it seems we have slightly different concepts of service here and I'm sure yours is just as valuable and important as anyone else's.
He smiled conciliantly.

"Very well, Lord Constable, I understand when it is my time to return to the role of listener."

| "I obey the king. But the king should obey the law, and not be above them. Pendorian laws would be much more respected if the king, after creating them, pledged to submit himself to them. Then all future kings would also have to follow those laws. His laws. Or else they would lose their right to the throne."
"But now, what do we have? Duke Brennus does not obey the law. What has happened to him? Nothing. No one cares. The king does not give enough importance to his laws, and so no one feels compelled to follow them. Laws must be sacred and to break them must be blasphemy - even for kings."
