One of the players recently asked me what the population of a hex was, and I know the issue of the population numbers of various cities has come up over time, so I have decided to make a very (very!) rough population model. Note; this really is extremely crude, and does not take into account under-populated areas like the Steppe, but rather as though everything had as many people as the land value and settlement size warrented.
This model was made using the Levy numbers, whereby 10% of the working male population is pressed into the army, which comes to 3.2% of the hex population.
In the hex calculations, settlements are neutral, terrain type is favoured, and economic impactis reduced (wealthier regions do not necessarily have more people, they are just more efficient).
So, here are the stats!
Largest City : Sarleon; 21,086 citizens.
Second Largest City : Ethos; 17,962 citizens
Third Largest City : Singal; 16,920 citizens
Smallest City : Poinsbruk; 9,177 citizens, Windholm 9,177 citizens
Most Populous County : Mobray County (30); 67,166 denizens
Second Most Populous County : County of Ravenstern (19); 63,521
Third Most Populous County : County of Ethos (47); 60,918
Least Populous County : White Peak Mountains (17), Windbreak Mountains (34); 16,141 denizens each
Highest Population Density (living in towns and villages) : High Pass Mountains (16); urban dwellers outnumbered 1.66-1
Lowest Populations Density (living rurally) : Mystveil Woods (10); urban dwellers outnumbered 8-1
Total Population of Pendor : 2,364,347 (which is roughly the same as England in a similar time period; 1400's)
Addendum; Lowest Population Density not counting Elacrai.
