A couple of details which go along with the Throne Room Map that I have just posted and which refers to how recruitment will work for each of the Orders.

At the end of each Event (Major and perhaps some other occasions if casualties are running high) I will create a central pool of recruits from which all the Orders will draw. The allocation of new blood will be determined with a weighted system in which lands, casualties and "royal favour" are all a factor.

Each town will give 2 property points
Each castle will give 1 property point
Villages are not counted

Royal Favour is curried depending on your competence during the event, your creativity in solving problems and

I have worked out a complex algorithm that dictates the "base recruitment value" for each Order in terms of Knights and Retainers (essentially initiates). This number is then multiplied by the above modifiers, and from there recruits are allocated from the pool to each Order.

After this is done, I will determine how many initiates have been promoted to Knightly status depending on the PoP3 Order principles and any additional controls you give me (ie increasing the difficulty of membership trials will reduce promotions but slowly increase the strength of your remaining Knights, and vice versa)

Will the spheres of influence change during the roleplay?

Depending on the actions of each Order, yes. Territory will be a large part of it, and you are all vying for supremacy, though bear in mind that if you attack someone who is not really your enemy (The Griffons invade Dawn for example), then you will feel the wrath of the King for upsetting the status quo.

Are the "land-gains" in any way tied to major events?

They can be. For the most part they are meta-game however. You decide that you want to begin influencing a certain area and invest a number of troops to do it (it need not be via conquest, especially for areas not under any ones control, though that would be the quickest!)

You could build new amenities, establish a garrison, train the locals to defend themselves, spread your particular religion etc. Basically if you are active there, then you will gain influence there.

Then over time I will expand your borders to account for your manouvers. Bear in mind that any troops you have out on missions will be unable to assist in defending your lands, and mini/major events unless they are in that particular geographical area.

Remember only Castles and Towns count towards territorial boni, though you can use the villages as a tool to influence nearby castles / towns.

Plus, I imagine if you wend an unreasonable number (100 knights, for example) it will be viewed as an act of aggression, and hostilities will start to rise.

So how exactly would we go about this? Just post (example) "The Silvermists try to conquer Windholm for teh lolz" and we just get it? Or will each order have a certain amount of time to expand their influence with events similar to a mini mini event?

You say we're sending X troops to do Y in Windholm, I then decide if you are successful and whether there are any hiccups while its being done.
