Catching the guard Seph heads outside to meet the Adventurer.

Greeting honored Adventurer, my lord is currently in planning with my fellow knights and so I will be talking with you in his stead until he is ready for us.

I am Sir Hounds my lords household knight

Seph then led them to a private meeting room and had a servant bring in a selections of drinks and foods before settling himself into a chair next to Sir Forns daughter and bowing his head respectfully to kiss her hand.

Now as for the reason I called you here, I would like to make an offer to contract you to my lords service.

I believe our offer is fair and as the richest of he barons involved in the fight for Kelredan it is larger then you are likely to recieve elsewere.

We offer you an even share of all loot and 2000 gold coins, all vert standard I know but he would also like to make you a most generous offer as a bonus upon our taking control of Keldredan.

My lord offers you a significant portion of land for an estate that will be signed over to you and your family from the day Kelredan becomes his to rule giving your family a fine future in these lands, as well as a position upon his ruling council alongside myself and his other loyal knights.
He would also be more then happy to knight your children himself so they may follow in your fine footsteps as a knight and bring further honor to your name.

Day 2 Morning

William turned as the door was opened. A commoner walked in and said with a trembling voice:
"From a possible friend" and handed William a note. Upon it's opening it read:
Spoiler:

After reading the message William turned towards the messenger and said simply.
"No, I plan on doing things right. I will not go around paying people to murder for me in the dark. Now get out of my sight before I have someone escort you out."
The messenger turned out of the door and left the premises. With that done William turned towards the rest of the congregation.
"Now, Sir Blackwood on the matter of the church. The local church is not of my religion so I doubt they would back me. We will have to manage without their support."
That is when Sir Hounds brought the matter to Williams attention of his sending a message to a local party of adventures. "Ah, good idea. Offer him 2000 gold and the spoils of battle and if he wants to negotiate tell him to come to me." The Crimson Bow then walked out of the room and began a negotiation with the adventurers.
Ealdred then bowed to William and took his leave to begin training the troops.
"Okay Chonrad, seeing that you are the only one left and the most high ranking. What is your opion on an alliance with one of the other baronets?"

Day 2 midmorning

the sound of hooves drifted up the road as a rider wearing the colors of Yaragar wound up the road, having been pointed in this direction by peasants who had seen a party of armroed people head this direction. Stopping at the gates to the maor, he addressed the guards

Excuse me, but I have a message for a party of adventurers that I have reason to believe they are within this manor based on word from the people on the road? My Lord Thedric Baras wishes me to deliver a message to their leader. I would be most grateful if I would be alllwed entry.

the squire had the presence of mind topitch his voice so that people in the courtyard could hear the gist of the conversation

Over hearing the riders words Kalam ( Jareds squire. ) left the archers to continue drilling and approached placing himself between the rider and the entrance.

"They are presently in negotiations with my master and can not be disturbed, if you wish I can deliver your message once they are free or you can wait somewhere until they have finished, you will not be allowed entrance at this time as both my master and the lord of these lands are in private negotiations.

Kalam then made a hand signal towards the guards on the door who drew swords.

Also kindly lower your voice, or I will have you removed from this village for disturbing the peace.
It may be acceptable in your masters land to act in this fashion but it is not here.

The squire looked affronted at the sight of naked steel being drawn over such a trivial thing.

Now see here good sir, there is no need for violence over such a matter. As a squire and messenger of Lord Baras, this could be seen as a horrible slight to my Lord! Now I ask you put those away!

After recomposing himself he continued at a lower tone of voice, withdrawing a piece of parchment sealed with a wax seal. This missive must be delivered to the leader as soon as possible, my lord made it clear that he expects it as such and I am loathe to dissappoint him. I will wait for the leader to be finished if I must, but must I do it out on the road like some common thug?

"Much better, my thanks."

Kalam then nodded to the guards who put their swords away and moved back to their positions.

"Your welcome to watch the training if you would prefer or maybe a family in the village would be willing to offer you a meal, but as I have said my lord and my master are curretly in negotiations and so nobody who is not sworn to them is allowed entrance, I could take a request to them for entrance but doing so is risky given that I would need to interupt them to do so, I would of course be willing to do so.

For a price.

The squire's eyes widened slightly as he understood what he was being asked.

Sir, this is mere extortion! I would think that your lord would employ knights that are above such a thing!

He was quiet for a moment before glaring at him. What do you want.

"It is not extortion to offer to request permission for you to enter, an act which I should not perform at all given that nobody is allowed entrance while the negotiations are in progress.

If I am to break the rules then I see no reason why I should do so freely for a man I do not know and whom I am sure is coming to deliver a message that will hinder my masters plans.

So if you wish me to perform this act then make me an offer, it seems that delivering your message quickly is important to you so how important is it for you to do so before the adventurers have sworn an oath to serve alongside my master?

You think I know what this letter says? Look at it! It's sealed and it already was by the time my Lord gave it to me. For all I know it could be the next chapter of the Astrean Creed.

The squire took a small leather pouch off of his waist and took out a few shining silver disks. This is all I have, 4 silver crowns. If it is not enough to satisfy you then I have nothing else for you.

"Then you shall have to wait, if you really don't know what that letter says then you are a fool.
You were charged to deliver a letter to a band of adventurers that do not serve a lord, what coud it contain but a request for them to meet your master to discuss a contract?

Now kindly move away from the door and find somewhere out of the way to wait, I'll send word to you once you are allowed to enter.

Excuse me sir, I do not presume to have the arrogance to believe I know every aspect of my Lords business. Good day.

The young squire turned his horse around and spurred it into a canter, heading for the shade beneath a tree by a small stream a short distance from the manor.

"Inform all guards on duty that if he should be found trying to get inside that they are to call for me and detain him using all necesary force."

Merclan follows inside in silence, his sons went through every drink on the table looking for the alcoholic ones, murmuring to each other in what can only be called grunts and maybe a few squeels. Merclan closes his eyes and listens to the offer, smoke lazily coiling out of his nose. Yirimir shuffled over the tiniest amount to her host but kep her eyes fixed on her father waiting for his reaction. Around her neck a noldor charm hung loosely, resting outside the travelling ringmail and boiled leather that was her armour.

Just before it seems he has fallen asleep, Merclans eyes snap open, and he takes another deep drag from his pipe. "Me sons are all knights, tried and tested. Although Tower's the only one who enters tournaments." He said, gesturing to the tower of meat and fat that was his eldest son Tower. Tower grins at Sir Jared, flexing hands that made lances look like tooth picks. "And the only quest he went on was when the privy of the flying Griffon was out of order." Merclan takes out his pipe, and a small goblet of slobber leaks out of the right side of his mouth, Sir Jared momentarily glimpses that the entire right side of his jaw is missing teeth. Absentmindedly, Merclan takes out his Red Napkin that he keeps tucked into his collar and wipes his mouth, still deep in thought. "A spot of land though? Theres a fair chunk of salt and no mistake." He then looks up sharpely to Sir Jared: "Get Milord to take me and my sweet children on a tour of this land. I know how badly Sarleon was hit in the war." Merclan utterred With a malicious tone, "Done the place up though since then, looks very nice, very nice indeed." Merclan stands, already sure of his demands.

Seph nods his head before looking curiously towards the young woman next to him.

"It would be my pleasure to arrange a tour for you with my lord, might I have the pleasure of your daughters company whilst you are taking your tour? I would like very much to get to know her better and to hear the story of that rather unique charm."

Seph then writing a note on a scrap of paper opens the door and motions for the nearest guard to deliver it to the baron straight away.

A guard entered the manor door immediately attracting Williams attention.
"My sire, a note from Sir Hounds." The guard said.
"Thank you, you may return to your post." William said after receiving the letter. It read that the Adventurer Captain would like a tour of the Barony and informed him of the fact that there was a squire of another baronet seeking entry into his lands.
"If you will excuse me Sir Blackwood, I have business to attend to, we can continue our discussion about an alliance at a later date." And with that he left the room headed towards the spot where Sir Hounds and the Adventurer stood talking.
"Hello, Mr.Merclan. I look forward to establishing an agreement with you. I believe you requested a tour around the lands?"

Day 2 Mid day.

Writing a note on another piece of paper Seph sent another guard off to send a messenger to the mercenary captain rumored to be in the area.

Greetings most valiant captain Yagiz, I would like to extend to you an invitation to come to Rebache to discuss a very profitable venture.
If this interests you then give the door guards the name Jared Hounds, they will know where to find me and I will be most pleased to discuss terms with you.

Sir Jared Hounds.

Merclan looks down distractedly at Sir Jarod. "Hmm? Yes fine come if you want." He growls something unintelligible at his sons and they lurch away readying the horses, Yirimir follows with a wink at Jared. "Aye around the lands, and especially the ones promised to me by young Hounds here."

Smiling at this Seph approaches Yirimir and offers his arm.

"Might I have the honor of escorting you on the tour milady?
I would be most honored to hear how you came to possess a charm thats uniqueness is matched only by your beauty.
"

Day 2, evening.

Seph hands a sealed envelope to a messenger with instructions to deliver it into the hands of the sheriff personaly.

The Yaragar Squire was still sitting outside beneath his tree, his horse tethered near the stream as he chewed on a piece of dried jerky from his saddlebags, eyes fixed on the main gate.

Checking in with his master Kalam briefly explains about the waiting squire then bows and retreats from the room to locate him.

Some time later finding him sitting under the tree Kalam approaches.

"You are welcome to wait within now if you wish, my master, my lord and the Adventurers are taking a tour and so it will be some time before they are prepared to see you."

Day 3 Early morning.

Olaf arrived to rebachee in early morning, when sun was only rising, his usual companion, Ryn, was riding at his right, and 2 wardens were riding behind him. Once group arrived, they marched straight to tower house."I am here to meet Knight by the name of Jared Hounds." replied Olaf to questioning look of guard.

The squire picked himself up and dusted himself off with all the dignity he could muster, which was still a decent amount. He nodded to Kalam before untying his horse and walking it into the courtyard, passing Olaf on the way and looking out of place in his Yaragar livery.

Alerted by a guard Seph left his room and headed down to greet the Sheriff.

"Greeting sheriff I trust you had a peaceful journey and that your lions have not yet made the grave mistake of entering these lands.

Would you and your men care for some refreshment?
"

Following the squire Kalam showed him the way to a guest room and had food and drink provided for him.

Once Olaf heard Lions mentioned, he showed angry expression for a second, but quickly calmed down "Talking about grave mistakes, mentioning them one more time would be one of those. You are Jared Hounds?" Olaf didn't care to add Sir, not right now.
