Amhain follows the group to the stables and motioning for the gathered forces to block the entrance.

" You will hand him over to us now then you are free to go, you have already attacked one of your own so you'll forgive me if I don't take your word that you'll let him go. "

(( For reference details, I now have 5 regulars with me and my 2 brothers and the other 5 plus 10 militia outside the stables. ))

My squire will gather the horses and once they are all out here you can have Hounds, Ealdred replied. You will understand we have little trust in your word as well considering your disregard for laws and customs.

" Then you remain away from the horses until you have freed him, I will not risk you riding off with him. "

Use you head, Ealdred snorted. How would we ride off with an unconscious man and no means to get him into his saddle? Now get moving.

He gave orders to his squire and Jacob headed towards the stables, waiting for the soldiers to let him get the horses while the knights waited in a distance.

Amhain Iobairt motioned for his soldiers to move out of the way then nudged one of the regulars who promptly gathered the rest and surrounded the men holding Seph.

When he was finished Jacob led the knights' horses out of the stable door and waited. Ealdred nodded and the two knights let Seph fall to the ground. The group quickly mounted their horses and Ealdred turned to Amhain.

The last word in this matter has not yet been spoken. Have fun with your traitor!

With that he and his companions spurred their horses and gallopped off.

EDIT: Please wait with your post. I am awaiting a host response here.

Roll to see what gear was on sephs horse. As is was not specified that the throwing axes, bow and arrows were taken in a roll of above 15 will mean that they are taken by Jacob. Roll: 33, 71, 56 for the three listed. Have I forgotten anything this last roll will cover it. Roll: 29. Everything in the saddlebags was taken and stashed in Jacob's own.

Roll to see what money of the 150 of a free knight was present and what was at Rebache. Roll: 27. 27% is present. (40.5 denars) roll of 44 decided that 44% of that was on Seph's person, the rest was in the saddle bags and taken by Jacob. (17.8 denars, but for sake of simplicity it was rounded up to 18)

In the stables Jacob did as he master had commanded, readying the knights horses for their departure from the Iobairt estate. However, Sir Ealdred had ordered his squire to empty Seph's saddle bags as well. He did so, removing the bow and arrows and Olaf's throwing axes. Since Seph had been carrying his sword and shield the items stayed on is person along with his purse which contained 18 denars.

He was also given orders to tie Sephs horse's reins to his own and move the lot to an area near the stable entrance but barely outside it. He did so and had the presence of mind to keep his and Seph's horses near the back of the pack, where they were blocked from sight by the others.

The knights mounted up and Ealdred said his piece before the group spurred their horses. It was the moment of truth if the ruse would be discovered or not.

Roll: as the men of Iobairt were not in or near the horses the likelihood of them noticing that the horses outnumbered the men would be low. roll of 21 and up means a successful escape. 20 and below means a keen eyed regular would notice and snatch the reins just before the horses were spurred. Roll: 61.

As the horses with riders bolted forwards under the spurs of their riders, the riderless horse, encouraged by herd instinct and the tug of its reins attached to Jacob's, followed, galloping out with the rest of the party from Rebache.

The moment the horses begin to move Amhain smiles then shouts.

" Now!!! "

The 10 regulars bows snapping up fire arrows into the leading knight and squires horses whilst the 10 militia reacting a moment slower fire at the trailing knights.

Having seen longbows among Iobairt's men Ealdred reacted immediately when the treacherous knight yelled his cryptic command. He barked a word to his men and threw his horse sharply to one side, out of the way of the arrows, while getting up his shield to protect himself and his horse's head from arrows, and so did his men. He hoped that the unclear command given by Iobairt would take the soldiers some time to understand if it was about firing arrows and that the sudden change of direction would let their arrows miss, since shooting a moving target required shooting where one estimated it to be the next moment, not knowing where it was.

"A Sarleon longbow is not quickly drawn", he thought, "even if already notched. Perhaps it will give us the time to get away, if not - Eunomia be with us."

As the knights turn their horses and follow Iskar, Amhain's shout cuts the cool morning breeze. The strum of bows from behind the stable hums in response and 5 feathered arrows fly through the air. Ealdreds men rein their horses further apart and franticly urge them on to greater speeds. The men around Amhain throw down their arms and rush to unholster their bows, keeping a fixed eye on the retreating figures as they notch and loose their arrows. The confused militia stand stunned whilst the regulars infront swear and curse at them to fire.

Rolls

Spoiler:

The barrage of arrows grows, yet the vast majority miss the knights, several lodge in their armour, or painfully in the horses flanks, but nothing capable of bringing the massive destriers down. As the knights are nearly halfway through the fields a horrific scream emanates from one of the horses, an arrow lodged deep into its stomach. Leaving a trail of blood and, when the arrow is ripped out by a passing hedge, portion of its intestines as it races along. The militia finally pull out there bows, and hesitantly draw and fire, all missing save for one lucky shot, which glances harmlessly of off Sephs horses flank sending the animal racing away from its burdoned brethren into the nearby forest. Amhain watches the knights manage to get their steads under control, and rally several hundred metres away, breaking off the arrows piercing their armour and in some cases their mounts. The crippled horse has slown down to a trot, with the rider desperately kicking it to keep it at that speed. As the horse reaches the group, Ealdred notices its body is shuddering violently in shock and the dying creature slowly sinks to the ground, its intestines trailing twenty metres behind it. Amidst the screams of the other stallions, the knight draws his knife and slits the animals throat.

Get on Jacob's horse, quickly, Ealdred commanded. The knight grabbed his saddle bags and complied. The horse whinnied in complaint on the doubled weight, but calmed down again.

Let's get out of here, Ealdred said and turned his horse south. The group took off towards Kelredan town, riding as fast as possible. The horses would have enough time for respite later.

[The group leaves and continues in Kelredan.]
