Day 3, noon:

Sir Derreck started at first light from his holdings in Yaragar. He traveled at the head of the small group of 10 Militia. Nothing happened while traveling and so the group was ready and fresh when they reached their destination. Sir Derreck rode up to a Guardsman he saw from a distance.

"Greetings friend, I come with great news from my Lord Sir Thedric Baras of Yaragar. I have come with my men to help you in these dire times. May I enter the village and talk to the Elder?"

The man eyed Sir Derrick's troops with suspicion.

Leave 'dem men out here, he said. You can go and talk to 'de elder alone.

Sir Derreck nodded in agreement, afterwards he got of his horse and handed it to one of his men.

"No problem good Sir."

The Knight walked slowly into the village looking left and right watching the villagers doing their daily work. He reached the house of the elder not long after and approached it without hesitation.

[Continuing Derrick Weiherr's separate action.]

The village elder sat on a stool in front of his house. He was a crooked old figure with scarce grey-white hair, but also with an astute sparkle in his eyes that hinted at why he had once been chosen as the village's leader and spokesman. When he saw Sir Derrick approaching he put down his pipe and used a cane to heave himself into a more or less standing position.

What can I do for you, Sir knight? he asked.

Sir Derrick smiled as he got closer and bowed a little while talking.

"My name is Derrick Weiherr, I am a subject to Thedric Baras of Yaragar. I have come to offer help in these dire times. The whole area must be in confusion without their leader. I brought my men to defend this land from anyone trying to take advantage of the situation. May I talk to the Steward of the late Lord of Kelredan."

Sir Derrick leaned back to full height when he noticed something.

"Where are my manners, my deepest and honest condolences to you."

Thank you, Sir, the elder said. As for the castle, it is still garrisoned with the local levies, but the town itself could need some more protecton, if you don't mind me saying so. When the late baronet died the castellan ordered most men to the castle to prevent unlawful attempts to simply seize it, but that left us with but the two guards you have seen at the gate.

The Knight thinks only a moment before answering the old man.

"Then I know what to do, I will order my men to take up position around the Village. Could you inform the Castellan about our mission here and assure him that we don't want to enter the Castle? And do you have some parchment and ink, I would like to publish a letter near the market informing the populace that my men are here for their good."

Yes, yes, it is right over there. He pointed back at his house. I hope you will forgive me if I say "Help Yourself"? I am not as agile as I used to be.

Still Day 3 Noon

Sir Derrick walked inside past the old man. The room was not lit and only a little bit of light entered thorugh the few windows. After some searching he found the desk under a lot of pieces of paper. He cleared a small part of the desk and took an empty parchment and the ink. He then started to write.

Brave people of Kelredan. The Lord of Yaragar and his men are with you in these dire times.
We mourn with you and are here to help you. Don't be troubled by the men of Yaragar which have taken up position around the City,
they are guarding you against any unlawful interference from the outside. If you have anything that needs help feel free to approach me or my men.
The people of Yaragar are with you and we won't leave you alone.

Sir Derrick Weiherr, subject to Lord Thedric Baras of Yaragar

He left the hut again with his parchment in hand.

OOC: Is the Old man still there or did he make it to the Castle? If not I ask him if he publishes the parchment and I then walk to the Castle.

Day 3, Noon (Derrick's actions)

The village elder was still sitting in front of his house. In fact he did not make the impression of being particularly mobile. He gladly accepted Sir Derrick's written announcement and promised to have it published around town. Meanwhile Sir Derrick himself made his way to the castle. After he had exchanged some words with the gate wardens he was allowed into the courtyard where the castellan came to talk to him.

Greetings, Sir Weiherr, he said, I am Alexander Fren, castellan of Kelredan. What can I do for you?

[I took the liberty to skip the foreseeable conversations with default guard NPCs.]

The walk to the Castle wasn't long and Derrick didn't meet anyone of the populace. As he met the Castellan he bowed deeply as was befitting to the rank he now had, as Commander of all the forces of Kelredan.

"It is not about what you can do for me, it is about what I can do for you. I can help you against the multitude of foes which want to grab the now vacant baronetcy of Kelredan. I have come with ten of my men to be put to use defending this village against intrusion. Of course only if you want our help. Furthermore is this not bound to any promises to my Lord of myself, I only offer my help as any real Knight should do."

The castellan's expression darkened at first when Sir Derrick's troops were mentioned, but lightened up again when he heard that no claim was tied to this action.

Very well, he replied, your help in securing the town of Kelredan will be most welcome. However, I cannot let your men into the castle. The baron ordered me to hold it with the levies of Kelredan until a worthy successor of the late baronet has been found.

"Then this is decided, with your leave I will go to my men and inform them about their new duty."

Derrick bows deep and waits for the answer of the Castellan.

Derrick left the Castle right after that and informed the two guardsmen he encountered earlier of the decision of the Castellan. He then talked to his men and stationed them around the village. Two of his men followed him to the market and he took up position there.

Sir Derrick sat down near the market and watched the people do their daily work when he got an idea. He quickly managed to get some paper and ink and so he set up a letter.

Spoiler:

He then sealed the letter and started searching for a merchant or traveler going to Yaragar.

Day 4, around noon

As the sun neared the zenith a group of battered riders approached the town of Kelredan, Sir Ealdred riding in front. He halted his horse in front of the gate and addressed the guards.

We request access to the town, he said, to tend to our horses' wounds and our own. We have been unjustly and heinously attacked by Sir Iobairt and his men.

[Since your men patrol the town now, Psychozoa, I leave the guards's reactions to you.]

The guardsman looked up and down at the men and horses. They must have ridden very fast as the horses looked totally exhausted. Especially the one with the two riders on them.

"I hope you left the danger where you came from. We surely don't need it around here. You can find the healer near the market."

Suddenly the man remembered something important.

"Did you just say Sir Iobairt did this to you? If this is true the Castellan will want to know."

He opened the gates and started walking towards the Castle leaving the other one alone at the gates.

OOC: Sir Derrick is with two men at the market. So you see them and they see you when you get there.

Ealdred nodded and the group rode on to the market square. Looking around he saw a man in plate armour sit near the elder's house. His breastplate bore the arms of Weiherr. Having sent off his men to seek out the healer for both them and their horses he approached the knight.

Sir Derrick, I presume?

The men Sir Derrick had with him were suprised when they saw the Knights arrive on their horses. They grabbed their spears and looked around nervously, they clearly had no clue what to do in this situation. Sir Derrick stood up and with a simple gesture he calmed his men down. He then walked forward.

"You assume right. And by the looks of your Sigil you must be Sir Ealdred Moorsburgh. What brings you here, and why are your men injured?"

Sir Derrick talked slowly and calm, but one could see that he was prepared for everything. These were not hostile lands but at times like this everything could happen.

We were on a mission to discuss a possible cooperation with Sir Iobairt in fighting the local bandit cartel called the "knights of the Lion". Ealdred sighed. However, as it turned out, Sir Hounds who had arranged the meeting is a traitor. When we tried to seize him and take him back to Rebache for trial Iobairt and his men demanded Hounds's deliverance at swordpoint. Left without a choice we agreed to their terms, but Iobairt committed another crime. When we rode away he had his archers fire at us. One horse died and another one escaped into the woods. My men must tend to their and their horses' wounds and I need to immediately send word to the baron about this treason. I hope we can expect protection from your troops here as would befit the men of a proper knight?

"This is dire news. I think the Castellan will want to know about this. He is right now inside the Castle with nearly all his troops. First you have to rest and tend to your wounds. I will inform my men about the current situation and then ask the Castellan if he grants us an audience."

After a short pause he added.

"And of course you can expect my protection. That is what I am here for."

If Sir Ealdred has nothing more to say, Sir Derrick then turns around and goes for a walk to visit his men and then requests entry to the Castle.

[OOC: I think we need someone who RP's the Castellan again. Or we play him like the King, (gut feeling of me and Iskar, basic modifier and dice)]
