Leiden, Leiden.. that is where I study! must still be a fencing school in his honor. (I hope)

well, no. But Gérard Thibault d'Anvers was born in Antwerp, wich is not part of The Netherlands.

But in the time he lived, it could have been. Since Antwerp joined our rebellion, but then decided to stay with Spain a few years later.

Perhaps you should ask Mordred if he knows good schools in Leiden.

Well, Napoleon was born in Corsica only one year after it switched to France. He came from a traditional Italian family (i Buonaparte), spoke crappy French, but nowadays is considered French anyway.

As I said before: nationalities are a messy business.

Afraid I don't live in the Netherlands so I don't know (I am Dutch, but grew up in the UK). Richard the Lionheart didn't speak a word of English, but is still considered the most "English" Medieval English monarch.

EDIT : de Ruyter is an absolute legend, whenever my friends make fun of the Dutch, I just remind them of that fun fact. Also, the Dutch are the last nation to have successfully invaded England, though ultimately this proved to be their undoing as a great power; the Dutch and English fleet's were united under one (Dutch) command, but to improve the balance of power the Dutch agreed that something like 2/3 of the Fleet should be English, and they never recovered from this discrepancy.

Be proud that you're not finnish.

Our top politicians are known as political terrorists in the EU and our people as drunkards. Top that.

(I'd rather live in Germany and laugh at the finns. I hate the people living in this country, not the country itself. I love the air, the water and the forests. But I don't love or like the beer-tummy lummoxes some call finns.)

The yellow on the Brazilian flag is there because of the Habsburgs. And the royal family is now Orleans and something else. Very Frenchy. Monarchy is so funny!

She is, but honestly (don't tell anyone) I would like the Crown prince on the throne Smile

King William III would do great things for monarchy. It seems most Kings and Queens these days are 80 something.

Willem-Alexander is already in his 40's, but would still be considered a 'young' King in comparison.

I agree in part, but queens are kind of immortal, at any rate.
Beatrix cried of joy when she visited my hometown and greeted us personally. What kind of queen shows feelings (or even cares to visit a tiny settlement in Brazil, for that matter)? Besides, she's the daughter of Juliana the Cool. I confess that was the closest I ever got from falling in love with a nation.

If it's any consolation, Aelos, during their war for independence, the Dutch pretty much created and set the standard for military organisation that was used until after the napoleonic wars.

I also really like the monarchy, unlike most of my friends Sad

I actually hate it. It's useful for political and perceived homogeneity of large countries, but only "tradition" justifies it in small ones.

Monarchs are pretty, but not useful.

I refuse to acknowledge that people are entitled to stations that they did not earn, because of their blood. If you can earn it, fine, but don't look at me and say that you are entitled to my country because your barbarian ancestors pillaged it long ago.

I agree, but I am really about tradition. And Monarchy is really about tradition these days. The Dutch monarch has seriously no authority.

I love/hate Dutch monarchy.. they were crowned by the French! the horror!
We were a Republic with Stadtholders, not Kings.

I'd like to ask Mordred a couple of things:

1.) What kind of equipment does Mordred have?

2.) What happened to Djaha Heritage Bow?

I have always thought that King Mordred had the Ruby Rune Two-handed sword due to being based on the stereotypical Pendor PC(or was he?), but you never know.

Head - Mercenary Helm with a Crown (just because!)
Body - Forlorn Hope Plate; a gift from the people of Mettenheim
Gauntlets - Mettenheim Plate Gauntlets
Boots - Noldor Noble Boots
Weapon - Ruby Rune Two Handed Sword
Weapon - Ruby Rune Bow
Horse - Noldor Spirit Horse (though he rarely goes mounted, he does have one in the stable)

Lordly where applicable.

And I believe we should add Noldor arrows to that? And then Djaha bow is probably with Rafik.

Otherwise, awesome... You really like the Mettenheimers, don't you.

I tend to use a 2x large bag of arrows, but as the King you can assume he would have a personal arrow carrier, so yes Noldor.

I like Mettenheim? Really? Does it show? Razz
