The Siege of Ravenstern - Page 3 Empty

The woman tried to rise but a wave of nausea stopped her, so instead she propped herself up and holding her head high and proud despite the pain in her head managed to croak out her name.

"Marianne, Royal Ambassador from Veccavia to the court of Mordred Adalhard" she paused, stopping to cough and clear her throat, once composed once again she continued in a much clearer voice.

"I demand to see your commander so that I can make a complaint of my treatment here. You can be sure that my queen will hear of this insult. Now help me up!" she commanded finally, offering the crook of her arm to the two knights the look of expectence in her eye.

"Or is the reputation of chivalry among the knights of Pendor a misbegotten myth?"

He stirred and groaned as he rose up from the floor by his fellow knights...Grandmaster Mastifus rubbed his head trying to remember what happened, since the initial shock is still in.

He looked around the room with his knights standing there waiting for him, some could be heard down the hall, but nothing to recognizable.

He looked at the floor and saw ripped and shredded cloth of that of Ravenstern royalty. It then dawned on him. His left side was beginning to twitch with anger and his teeth began to show..

He then picked up his sword, and turned to his knights with his one eye, the other now revealed since the patch was lost during some point in the struggle with Ursula.

Some say his eye contains the souls of vanquished demons, while others say staring at it will cause you great harm or curse in the future. But the knights knew better to not stare.

"It seems the Knights of the Griffon have decided they make the rules around here lads! They took that bitch from me when she needed to be killed and one the Griffons struck a blow to my head to stop me and then took her away, for what intentions I do not know. But one thing is for sure."

"Find them, and kill Ursula, but do not kill any of the Griffon Knights, Sir Darlion will be hearing this one from me personally, or If I find that knight, he wish I havent woken up."

As he slid his helmet back on from the floor, he pointed his sword forward...

"Go now and find them!"

And the Dragon Knights began to leave the room, with Mastifus standing there.

"To hell with this place."

And threw a torch on one of the many banners of silk to light it ablaze. And then departed after his knights.

At that moment a messenger arrived to scene. Taking a quick look at the situation before starting to speak to Sir Orlando.
"Grandmaster Darlion has ordered every knight of the Griffon to pull back to the siege camp. You may, however, complete your task before this, should you so wish."
He became quiet and waited for the two knights to answer. Sir Azrael looked at Sir Orlando and said:
"What are your orders sir?"

Sir Orlando didn't have to think to know that going to the siege camp was a better idea than staying in their current position, and it would be a much better idea to interrogate Marianne as she's surrounded by a group of knights, rather than just Sir Azrael and himself.

"Alright than, Sir Azrael, help me 'escort' Miss Marianne to the siege camp, we'll interrogate her further there."

Having said that, Sir Orlando, Sir Azrael, the messenger, and Marianne, were on their way through the alleyways and streets to make their way to the siege camp. Marianne having a grumpy attitude along the way, that Sir Azrael had all the fun in kicking out of her every time it appeared, as she slowed down. Sir Orlando looked to the messenger and guessed that he probably knew who was already there or on their way, and wondered.

"I don't suppose we'll be the last to arrive to the siege camp, or are we messenger?"

The messenger frowned
"I don't know for sure sir. Only Sir Darlion and a couple of others were there when orders were given to locate you, sirs. I didn't know your exact location so I had to search for you, sirs."
At that moment they arrived to the nearest gates which were open and continued through.

Sir Darlion greeted his knights as they all returned, and ordered every prisoner to be prepared for departure, they would leave for Sarleon immediately, with the Pendor army lagging behind them. He did not speak to any of the knights involved in the mission on the way home, but questioned every prisoner extensively, spending a particularly long amount of time with the ambassador from Veccavia. And although he didn't share his findings with any of the knights present, he worked extensively on his report of the siege to the king. The Griffons were told to head to the chapter house with the prisoners, and keep them under guard.

There, they would rest. And deal with a few important Order matters, before Sir Darlion send his report to the king.

Grandmaster Mastifus stood atop the walls of Ravenstern glaring at the departing Griffon column. Behind him, the banner of Pendor was slowly raised over the battlements of the central keep showing that the battle had been won. Mastifus ground his teeth and his knights who stood around him, looked on in silence, his hot fury was palpable in the soft breeze that tugged at his hair. Eventually he tore his gaze away and returned his attention to the city.

"Round up the Falcons, lads. Kill any rebels who yet remain. We will not see them raise against the King again. I will deal with Darlion and his minions later, for now the people of Ravenstern need us." With that, the Grandmaster strode back down the stairs and back into the city he knew and loved, calling orders to his knights as he went.

Mastifus looks towards Sarleon, Ursula clear in his minds eye.

//Event over, nicely done guys! Now you need to work out what to tell the King about what went on here.
