The Harlequin surveys his men with pride.

"Men we will be travelling a short distance to the south to a valley near lake Ethos."

He gestures out, "You five will stay here in case of visitors."

"For now rest we will set out after everyone is rested up."

The Harlequin eagerly awaits the coming journey.

The Harlequin realizing how foot weary his men were had a sudden idea,

"Let no man say the GM of the Ebony Gauntlets is an oath breaker. The king demanded I aid the sick so aid the sick and wounded we will." We will repair this building and make it habitable for use for when our brothers, the Radiant Cross return."

His men set to with determination cleaning out and beginning repairs on the otherwise abandoned Hospital.

The hospital was very old and ragged. Despite the KotEG's best efforts, they could not fully repair the place.. but now at least you could live there.

"Better than nothing", most of the knights thought.

But now was the time to depart. The knights were still weary, but they were fully able to move on.

The 50 Knights from Veccavia have returned, reporting that things there are secure enough for the forces loyal to Boadice to take over. Now that the Queen has taken control of the Queens Guard, people there have fallen in to line very quickly.

Not knowing where to meet you, they have taken up residence in the Radiant Cross chapterhouse, and took it upon themselves to do the place up, removing many of the blood stains and encouraging some of the old medical staff to return to their duties. The Duke of Ethos is happy with these improvements and has granted your Order indefinite occupancy of the Chapterhouse.

The 50 are available for duty once more, and you have "Burgher" status in Ethos, as well as a Chapterhouse there.

Craig the Lame hobbled into Ethos. Stumbling through the crowd, he slowly made his way to the familiar Radiant Cross Chapterhouse, where he had trained before.

According to some of the retainers, a group of the Ebony Gauntlets Knights have returned from abroad and are trying to clean up the place and getting the place up and running again. As he paced through the city streets, he noticed some of the said Knights patrolling around the streets, attempting to persuade the old medical staff to return to their former posts.

As the Harlequin arrived, five knights accompanying Craig the Lame approached to greet him from the city. The city walls were much cleaner than before, they shone of the sunlight and gave their own greeting to the arriving knights. The knights met the Harlequin outside the walls.

One knight stepped forward.

"Hail, grandmaster. I see you are missing some knights..."

(I was afraid to state such a statement to his lordship..but my gut feeling pushed me forward to ask it.)

I..I'm sorry m'lord, such a rash statment shouldn't of been said. I am fairly new to the ranks of the Gauntlets, but I am a proud warrior. My name is Atticus Eckit. Welcome back home sir!"

I put my fist to my chest and moved back to guarding the door. Staying vigilent and watching the men walk by into the Chapterhouse.

(Boy do they look rough) I thought.

"And a warm welcome to our orderyoung man. I hope you conduct yourself well within our order and soon you may find yourself at my side as well."

The harlequins grizzled and scarred face broke out in a rare smile as he admired the young mans fine attitude and made a mental note to have him watched closely to see what kind of man he was.

"Aye, we have certainly lost some men...... not too many though. They were lost to noldor assassins and snake cult scum."

"We have returned much richer in both property and knowledge however."

The harlequin turns to his men and has them present everything retrieved from Rinca's.

PostSubject: Re: Radiant Cross Hospital   Radiant Cross Hospital - Page 2 EmptyTue Dec 06, 2011 8:29 pm

Accompanied by some curious glances from Ethos's populace the knights arrived at the chapter house where Craig and some physicians started to take care of the wounded. When all wounds were bandaged and healing salves had been applied to all bruises the knights gathered around - some of them still limping - to have a closer look at the mysterious documents. However, none of them knew the strange signs shown on them.

After effectlessly staring at the documents for some time they abandoned this unfruitful task, and as the hour had grown late, most of the men seized the opportunity for some well deserved rest.

When Stoutheart awoke the next morning, he felt well rested. Having donned his armour and gulped a breakfast he stepped out into the courtyard of the former hospital of the Radiant Cross. It looked much better now than he had seen it first. Obviously the duke's men had driven out whatever vermin had taken up residence here before the duke had offered the Gauntlet to take over the place.

Rumours spread around the chapterhouse that mysterious documents have been found. I jumped at the thought of it. (What could they be?) I thought

It hit me then, (I knows of a man who studies ancient papers and documents! Of course I should of remembered! My studies have finally paid off. I must tell Commander Stoutheart!)

I ran off to the courtyard after thinking about it after breakfast, and saw that the commander left towards to courtyard.

I found him examining the land, maybe surveying, I had no clue.

"Hail Commander! I have heard that on your journey that you found documents that cant be decyphired. I am pleased to inform you that I know of a man who may help us! He was a professor of mine here in Janos. With permission sir, Ill gladly escort you and some men to his home here. He be more then welcoming to study them for us, especially since I am aquainted with him. His name is Cid Hectorious."

"I await your response sir."

The Harlequin gathered five other men to come with the two and prepared to leave at once.

They quickly reached the scholar's house. He bade them a friendly welcome and led them into his study where he gestured to some chairs near his working desk. The whole house was filled with heavily laden bookshelves, on which large tomes, thin pamphlets and elaborately worked leather bound books huddled together.
The study itself was - if that was possible - even more cramped with books and scrolls and dusty parchments. Hectorious settled down at his desk, closely examining the strange documents handed to him.

Crouching over them he mumbled to himself, sometimes jumping to his feet, hurrying to one of the shelves and accurately chosing one or the other book, every now and then raising or furrowing his brow. Finally he sank back to his chair.

Well, gentlemen, I can assure you that these are Noldor runes, but I'm afraid, none whose meaning discloses to me easily. To find out what they mean I would need more time. There are still some books I could consult and one or two friends of mine that might know a bit about the matter at hand. If you left these documents with me for about two days, I guess I could give you some results.

The Harlequin looks closely at the scholar..... He gazes at him until finally the scholar breaks his gaze and gulps nervously.

"Okay we will give you the time you desire. However, I will be leaving five of my men with you and this young man in charg eof you,"

The Harlequin points at the young knight who had recommended that the trip in the first place.

"We appreciate your help and you will be compensated for your work."

When they arrived back at the chapter house, a messenger with the duke's coat of arms on his tabard was waiting for them.
He bowed slightly, then addressed the Harlequin:

My mistress, the Lady Luciana, has heard that you have secured several Noldor artifacts and perhaps even writings, that she is greatly interested in. She therefore requests your presence in her audience chamber and hopes you will bring said artifacts with you.

Tell the Lady I will attend to her as soon as I am able. He thus dismisses the messenger.

Bring all of the weapons and armor we recovered. Leave the writings and the hammer. This woman really is in no position to demand these sorts of things of us but we shall entertain her due to her status as our lord hosts lady.

None of it is truly Noldor artifacts anyway its simply the work of a loon, the harlequin said to his gathered commanders with an eyeroll. You 5 attend to me on this trip to the lady. If she wants to see the papers she can come and visit the scholar as our guest.

At the castle:

Lady Luciana, the duke's daughter, received the knights in her audience chamber and after the general exchange of pleasantries eagerly took to examining the weapons and armour. To the knights' astonishment, she finally produced a Noldor dagger from the pleats of her garment and compared it with the artefacts. Then she turned back to Stoutheart, looking a bit disappointed:

It seems these are no original Noldor craftings, although they are of exceedingly high quality and show some characteristics otherwise only found among pieces of Noldor craftsmanship. However, they lack a specific texture, which I have long suspected to be due to a special kind of forge only present at Elacrai. Well, this seems to prove my theory...

She seemed a bit lost in thought, then focused her attention on the knights again.

I heard you also have found Noldor writings? I hope you have brought them here. And please, do tell me how you came to the possession of these artefacts!

At Hectorious's house:

The knights ordered to guard Hectorious and the documents had already grown a bit sleepy due to the dusty air in the house and the sounds muffled by hundreds of books, when Hectorious suddenly jumped to his feet.

Gentlemen, I need to consult a friend of mine, I'll leave the documents here in your custody and will be back soon!

With these words he made his way for the door.

for luciana.

OOC: i believe i had those noldor assassins stripped of their arms and armor actually.

for hecotrious

The knights quickly woke from their sleepy states, these were elitely trained men after all and the Harlequin had made his orders and suspicions very very clear.

The sergeant in charge of the group strode over to hectorious before he left the door and placed a very large and very heavy gauntlet upon the diminutive scholars shoulders.

"Not without some company you won't and not until after we pat you down to make sure you arent carrying these papers."

Also we received word from the Harlequin you are to make copies of these documents for our annals, both in noldor script and transcribed if you can.

With an effort to retain his dignity Hectorious ignored the heavy hand on his shoulder and the request do to a lowly scribe's work.

I'll get an escort? Splendid! So we will be able to even take some of these documents with us, I presume? It would be helpful to have them at hand to discuss the parts in question.

Without waiting for an answer he squirmed free of the knight's hand and scurried back to his desk, where he collected some of the documents.

Now, who of you will accompany me?

The Knight recognizes the scholar is bothered.

You sir scholar do not have to copy the documents yourself though humility is a virtue and my lord Harlequin would disapprove of these papers seeing too many eyes so I would request you do the work yourself no matter if it bothers you. Think of the honor you have received to begin with in the KOTEG requesting your discreet aid in this delicate matter.

Also with annoyance at the scholars squirrely behavior he withdraws his morningstar and lets it hang from his thong dangling idly, he does not intend it as a threatening gesture, it is merely a stress relieving exercise he enjoys but is certainly threatening non the less.

"Hectorious the documents will not be leaving until they are copied. Then you may take the copies to your colleague. We are not playing around right now so do not continue to be so sneaky. We are all learned men as well if not so splendidly as yourself so stop treating us as ignorant buffoons."

Lady Luciana,

Ah my lady do not touch this equipment, it is superior to noldor garb in fact. Unfortunately it is also cursed, one of my men died as a result of it.

"My apologies it appears my men did not take care to strip the Noldor assassins of their gear. A glaring oversight as I had desired to make you a gift of the items. If my men come across any other pieces of quality in their patrols I will be certain to send you some for your own personal collection."

"We have possibly required some writings but unfortunately will be keeping those under wraps for awhile due to security issues obviously, im sure you understand. However, once copies have been made of the manuscripts we would be delighted to present your court with copies."

At the scholar's house:

Hectorious had watched the knight unbelievingly while he talked, not quite sure what to make of this speech, but when the knight finally unsheathed his morning star and addressed him in such a commanding tone, he lost his temper.

No matter if it bothers me? What honour? Who does your 'Lord Harlequin' think he is? The Lord Chancellor himself? He rather seems to be the commander of violent brutes, who cannot solve any dispute without unsheathing their weapons! he exclaimed pointing at the morning star.

I am not your prisoner! I will go wherever I want, be these documents copied, uncopied or whatever. The documents won't be leaving until they are copied? In fact they will leave right now!

In a flurry of paper and parchment he threw the documents off his desk.

Now there you go, collect your precious documents and remove yourself from my sight or I'll call the city watch. If you have no respect for a scholar's work, I have no more business with you, however much reward you might offer!

The knight smiles though it appears to be more of a grimace when looked at. He gestures at a pair of his men to pick up the documents even though it would have given him great pleasure to simply force the man to do it himself.

You consider yourself a smart man don't you?

Then why.... as a lowly commoner do you feel the right to address a knighted man as such. Then to really prove your superior intellect you insult the man who we are all devoted too and follow the commands of. You know who Lord Colm Stoutheart is? He is the kingmaker the man who knew our ruler Mordred when he was nothing more than a landless adventurer. Ebony blades and Ebony blood was spilled to create this beautiful peaceful land that allows you to do your leisurely work.

You are only able to do your work because rough men stand ready to do violence on your behalf.

So we come to my next point. You consider yourself of such high class that you would not behoove us to copy these unique and highly sensitive documents. Copies of which will be sent to your lady Luciana. Perhaps we shall have the lady hear of your notion that you are of too great of class to sign documents that are more precious than all of our blood. These are some of the only Noldor writings in human hands and you consider yourself to important to copy them.

The Knights voice had raised throughout his diatribe as his ire grew more and more at the pompous little man who stood before him. Suddenly however he quieted,

"Fine, like I said we are all learned men as well I come from the family of a lord as well. We all know how to read and write. Anyone can copy so you don't need to dirty your precious hands that are too good for the only Noldor documents known to man. Fecius, please come copy these documents. Also if any were ripped or amaged from their..... fall please let me know.

Then the knight turned to Hectorious,

"It appears we will not be going anywhere. I will ask you one final time. Will you be working with us or should I bring my Lord Harlequin back and you may speak to him as to why you do not wish to work with us. I believe he is meeting with the Lady of this city, perhaps she may come as well and hear why she isn't reading her copy of these documents as well."
