Day Two Plans Empty
PostSubject: Day Two Plans   Day Two Plans EmptyFri Dec 09, 2011 1:02 am

Iskar will mainly be occupied with talking to the different representatives of the merchant guild as already played out in 'Home sweet Home'. This will spread over the whole day.

Apart from that he will talk to the two captured bandits in the morning, offering them a kind of deal. He will make clear that they basically have the choice of going to prison (or even get hanged) or working for him. Reminding them that the red brothers don't like competitors in their shady business and are thus not friendly to common bandits and mentioning that he has contacts to the reds he will try to intimidate the bandits to such an extent that they really work for him when set free instead of just running away.
If this works, he will order them to roam the city, the taverns, inns and the red light district, making allusions that they are discontent with the duke and showing sympathy with anyone opposing the latter. Should they be contacted by any kind of shady figure as a consequence of their behaviour, they'd have to report to Iskar immediately in the back room of the Horn and Stallion, whose barkeeper will be notified to send for Iskar as soon as they ask for him.

I will perhaps update this, according to how fruitful the intercepted letters turn out to be and when John Squealer will return with results.

If the others (mainly Clarence and Laisha) want tasks for day two, here are some more things we could look into:

The sewers are a likely hideout for the assassins. Carefully investigating them might do some good. Perhaps one could recruit a red brother as a guide.

If this does not reveal anything, studying the city's cadastre and searching for buildings recently purchased by people from outside Laria might do some good.

We could also contact the temple and urge them to help soothing the tense atmosphere among the population.

The rangers and mounted rangers will continue to patrol as ordered.

Theo is currently very far away in a personal mission and will issue no list of actions.

But he wishes luck to all rangers in Laria and suggests that no restraint be had regarding the investigations against the gauntlets and shady lords.

I feel like framing this and putting it on the wall, in the Clarion Hall

Laisha will look into whatever outcome (and resulting information) develops from the chase. If the figure is captured, she'll act on whatever information is gotten from him. If he isn't captured, then she'll work on investigating his last known general location in District 11. For the morning, this will probably entail finding a red brother, as Iskar suggested, to learn about the sewers and possibly act as guide if there's anything worth acting on (either information or a sewer entrance near where the figure was lost).

Boys, play nice... Wink.

And, obviously, Aldric is still riding to Elacrai.

I plan to chase the shadowy figure until I lose sight of him, or until something of note happens (target hides in a house, goes somewhere where he's trapped, or can be restrained, etc.). But whatever happens, it'll be morning, and Clarence will have had no sleep! So he will be asleep for a while

"Whaddya mean 'What about after that'? After a nap, I'll play it by ear, how bout that?"

I don't think you'd be out that late. I arrived at the house about an hour before sunset (about as best as you can tell with overcast skies, anyway) and I can't imagine it's that much later, even with my search of the owner's records.

With the letters now in there is another thing to do on day two: Iskar will want to investigate what the symbol of the red wing signifies. He would task the patrols to look out for this sign at the different taverns, inns and brothels in the city when patrolling the streets. Should John Squealer show up during the day, Iskar would ask him, too, about the symbol.

With the results of Personal Investigations, Laisha's mission is going to remain the same: try to find the culprits. With Sir Clarence likely down for the day, his squad will be under her command. The morning will be spent trying to gather information, with Sir Geoffrey accompanying Laisha to the tavern in District 11 to contact a member of the Red Brotherhood and also listen to general tavern gossip. The other squad members will be split into three groups of two and one of three to walk around the streets and gather information from the general public, centered around the place where Clarence was attacked and fanning out north and east. They should follow up on any leads and check suspicious buildings. The additional 25 mounted rangers coming into town will keep a watch on the district. I suspect they'll find little of interest, but it's mostly to ensure reinforcements are close by.

I would be nice of you to state how many rangers are doing what, including the size of the individual groups.

A total of 46 rangers and 54 mounted rangers is involved in the event.

4 mounted rangers have departed for Rane together with Cairngrove. We are still awaiting their return on day two or three approximately.

2 rangers will escort the monk to his home village.

5 mounted ranger squads, i.e. 25 mounted rangers are at Laisha's and (if he recovers fast enough) at Clarence's command. They will start with combing through district 11 in search of traces of the villains. Later that day they will carry out whatever orders Laisha or Clarence give them (cf. Laisha's plans).

8 squads of rangers, i.e. 40 rangers, will patrol the streets of Laria without specific investigation orders but to look out for the red wing symbol. They are there to give the population a feeling of safety and report anything they deem noteworthy to Iskar.

5 squads of mounted rangers, i.e. 25 mounted rangers will patrol around the city walls, intercepting unathorised messengers and reporting anything deemed noteworthy to Iskar.

4 rangers will be at Iskar's direct command to support him with his plans for the day (cf. my earlier post). If no player character resolves to do so, they will visit the temple on Iskars behalf, asking for the temple's support in calming down the population and rallying them against the assassins, whoever they might be.
