Day Two / Morning

Gauntlets:

Action reports:

Your knights make it into the city and start to patrol the main areas of the city. However they think they were spotted by a squad of mounted rangers/Clarion Call knights, outside the city. Same goes for the plain-cloth knights.

A report reaches you from district 5, where three of your knights ran into a squad of Silvermist. There was no fighting (yet), but harsh words were spoken, and the two groups have kept an eye out for one another all morning.

Your plain-cloth knights swarm out in pairs, but not many suspicious things are going on during the morning. Your men hear rumours, though, about some sort of chase taking place during the evening, close to the main road where the parade was interrupted.

The 12 knights you sent into the castle have not reported back yet. This could be a good sign, but another possibility is they are still arguing with the Griffons, as they have taken over the security of the castle(This will be resolved at noon together with the Griffons' actions).

In prison the questioning of the suspects reveals no new information. The men and women are scared and would agree to almost anything if pressured enough, but you do not believe they know anything of true value to the cause.

Sightings:

Your men report to have spotted at least three squads or Clarion Call riders outside the city.

Some of your plain-cloth knights report a strange concentration of Silvermist forces in district 11

Various Silvermist patrols are spotted throughout the city. They always appear to travel in groups of 5. You do, however, not know how many of these groups are potentially within the walls.

Six Griffon knights were spotted heading for the southern gate.

At your camp, some tracks are found, maybe one or two days old, that clearly do not belong to one of your men.

Day Two / Noon

Gauntlet:

Action reports:

Quarrel in district 5: You order your men not to engage and for the moment, tempers seem to call down. The Silvermists, you suspect has issued similar orders.

Chase: Your men ask about the chase, trying to be as discreet as possible. They learn that the chase took place close to dusk, and involved some kind of thief or rogue and a female Silvermist ranger. They were heading into district 11.

Knights at the castle: I just have to tell you how it is there; I have not heard back from the Griffons on that yet.

Tracks: You examine the tracks for almost an hour; unfortunately, the heavy rain has mostly washed them out and you are only able to find out little about them. One thing you are sure about, though. However was close to your camp knew what he was doing. The tracks are all well hidden and break off at some point.

Sightings:

One of your patrolling knights is approached by a mounted nobleman within the city. He introduces himself as Sir Aleyn Morbren and asks to speak to the Gauntlet's commander.

Two Silvermist Rangers are seen heading into the castle as well.

Day Two / Evening + Night

Gauntlet:

Action reports:

The Griffons allow your knights in, but restrict them to patrol the courtyard.

On the market place, your men manage to prevent a thievery. They caught the thief and imprisoned him, waiting for your orders before they turn them over to the duke's men.

At night, your plaincloth knights mingle with the general crowd, but few people have actually seen much of the chase. In a tavern in district 11, though, your men encounter someone who they suspect of knowing at least a few details, and when he leaves they follow him and "interrogate" him in one of the nearby alleys. In the middle of this, a dog's barking nearby alerts them of the presence of someone else and they notice a shadow watching them. Startled by the dog's barking, the man slips on the wet stone and your men overwhelm him. The man claims he is one of the Silvermist Rangers. Despite, or maybe because of this, your men decide to rough him up a bit and bring him into a rundown building in the slums of the city. You hear about this the next morning.

Aleyn Morbren, Robert Morbren's brother, asks you whether you have learned anything yet about his brothers demise. He also offers his help in the matter. Although he is not fond of the Gauntlet as an order, this is a family matter, and blood runs thicker than water.

Your guards at the HQ notice nothing out of the ordinary.

Sightings:

The man you posted at the castle encounter a Silvermist messenger entering the castle and leaving shortly thereafter. (Evening)

Day Three / Early Morning

Gauntlet:

Action reports:

Note: You only have one man, the one claiming to be a ranger. The other one ran away as you grabbed the man eavesdropping on you. You did not have the impression, through, that he knew much more of worth to your cause.

The ranger refuses to tell you much. He claims that he was there to monitor and listen. Your two men behaved suspiciously in his eyes, which is why he followed you. With a wry smile he tells you that his people will already be searching for him.

Day Three / Morning

Gauntlets:

Action reports:

Your men are able to gather the following information:

About the chase:
It took place during the night the day before yesterday. Some say a woman was involved, sometimes as the runner, sometimes as the pursuer. People claim to have seen the armour of a Silvermist ranger, others say it was actually a noblewoman from the former Clarion Call. Later more Silvermists were seen in the district, whatever they were after, they obviously did not find it.
That is all the people know.

About the assassins:
The people are very divided when it comes to the assassins. They all know that the arrows were fired from the duke's ranks. They have also heard that Duke Alamar claims that these men were imposters. Some believe it, others don't, suspecting it to be a cover-up for the incompetence or paranoia of the duke's men.The people in this district are tense. The duke's few men roaming the street are glared at.

KOTEG murder:
When asked about the murder of Robert Morbren, most of the people simply shrug. They have heard only rumours, and as it has not happened in their district, they do not really care much.

None of your men suspect that anyone lied about these things, as these information have no real value to the people here.

Your men grab just one man, after he got loud and threatened a local baker in his shop. The man was a burly thug, who gave one of your men a bloody nose before he was overwhelmed. In broad daylight, however, they were of course spotted trying to carry the man away, soon arrested by the duke's men and are now in jail in the garrison district.

Several of your men report seeing the same group of men at several locations within the district. They were dressed plainly, but looked rather alert.

Near the tavern where your men grabbed the ostensible ranger, they hear about how poor Bert got beaten up last night in some backalley.

I completely forgot something: A letter arrives at your camp, hailing from a certain Lagot Brackley, who invites you to visit him around noon to "discuss the good of the people" as he phrased it.

Please let me know whether you intend to follow this invitation or not.

Day Three / Noon

Gauntlets:

Action reports:

Keep in mind that you cannot change freely between wearing your armour or common peoples' clothing. If I am not mistaken all the 40 men you had deployed were "plainclothes". It is nothing severe or anything, just try to look out for it. I will simply assume you had stashed some of your armour in the city for such cases. So a couple of your knights now again run around in armour.

At the keep you spot Sir Iskar. Apparently he is alone there but clearly on official business. You have no problem with meeting the guard captain. (Just need to know what you want from him;).)

Later, you meet with Lagot Brackley, a wealthy local horse breeder. He is a very courteous host and has prepared a small feast for you when you arrive. He is very careful in his phrasing, but expresses his fears and concerns about the Noldor presence in the city, especially in the face of the assassination attempt. He knows that many people in the city feel the same. Good people, who would be willing to act if somebody showed them the way and gave them the right tools. Surely, if the public pressure would grow big enough, the noble Duke Alamar would have no choice but to reconsider his attitude towards those 'alien people'. After a while he speaks much more reluctant, clearly waiting for you to show your colours on this matter, before risking to reveal greater details about his plot.

The innkeeper refuses to move to your camp, at least not without you compensating him for his losses. He has a living to make and expects you to either pay him or protect him where he can keep his business alive.

For information from the knights of the other orders you will have to ask the players of the respective orders to decide whether their men would give you anything or not. The guards have not the slightest idea where the assassins might hide. After all that is what the orders were summoned for, and they could not have cared less about telling the common soldiers what they have found out so far. Instinctively, your men spread out into the more rundown districts of the city, where the riffraff tends to lurk.

Later you get a strange report out of the warehouse district. One of your armoured knights was approached by a filthy street child, who asked how long he is supposed to keep doing what the other Knight of the Gauntlet told him to do, and when he will get his reward.

Day Three / Noon (part 2)

Gauntlets:

Action reports:

The guard captain grudgingly agrees to set your men free. It is not hard for you to see that he is far from happy about the situation, but all he is able to do is give you a respectful warning that repeated actions like this will not sit well with the duke.

The merchant Brackley has not yet directly suggested anything. He is cautious, and while you can be fairly sure about his attentions, you think a snake like him would be able to persuade the court that every word he said had merely been innocent concerns of a worried citizen.

The innkeeper continues to argue until he is offered compensation, but does not dare to argue over the offered amount. He and his family are brought into your camp.

Without orders to say otherwise, your men chase the street urchin off, seeing that it is most likely a thief and a lier, since none of your men remembers meeting the child before.

Day Three - Evening/Night (part 1)

Gauntlet:

Action reports:

- The street urchin is nowhere to be found. Most likely it had sought shelter for the night. You will have to continue the search the next day.

- One of your knights hailing from Laria, who until lately had often assisted the Gauntlet's treasurer, is able to tell you a little bit about Brackley. He is the horse breeder of the region, his Larian caspians being the main breed used by the Knights of the Clarion Call. Brackley is no outspoken supporter of the Gauntlet, but your knight remembers that it is assumed that he supplied financial support in the past through his contracts. The horse breeder has a reputation for having a bad temper at times, but he seems to be a respectable man, always keeping his word.

- You are made aware of a fire being sighted in district 13. Apparently the poor inhabitants of the district have started to riot. The two of your men guarding the prisoner are thus currently completely cut off from the rest of the city.

- Aleyn Morbren approaches you. While the knight you asked to look into Sir Robert's disappearance is currently busy near the Tannery district, Sir Aleyn had asked around the inns to find out where his brother had been staying. He found out that Robert had rented a room at the "Pious Pilgrim". Nobody really knows why, but the Innkeeper reported that Robert used the room only to stash his things and catch a few meagre hours of sleep every night. Most of the time he was gone, dressed like a pilgrim. He also found out that Robert's body was found to the north-east of the inn (district 5).
