A few more shadow figures fall off their horses, there's limited light in this rainfall and the moon is all there is.

Lok locks his shield with the man on his right and more urgently signals for the closest one to him who is Apophis, to join him on his left

HURRY AND FORM THE REST OF THE SHIELD WALL! GLORY TO THE LEGION!

Marcus picks his centurions and rides away to the flanks. He orders his men who have glaives or spears to equip them and form a phalanx.

Rage fills his soul. "Ambushed by a few cultists??!!" He takes a javelin from his backpack, looking for the enemy commander. He soon spots a priestess wearing exquisite armour, and he throws the javelin at her before charging in to challenge her. Marcus's 30 centurions throw javelins from close range to the snake cult's flanks, and charge with Marcus to occupy the priestess's bodyguards.

Lok's mind races. He saw Marcus and the centurions charge. Does he get out his halberd and join the phalanx? Stay in the shield wall with his axe? Who's in charge at the shield-wall with Marcus gone? They formed it out of instinct and training, not on actual orders, would that be a problem after the battle? He decided to wait. If Apophis was in charge he decided to take those orders. Then that got him thinking, Would the other men follow the orders of Apophis? If they didn't we would have to take over. All of this was even if Apophis was in charge of the shield-wall. The enemies were getting closer and he didn't know what to do.

A centurion appeared out of nowhere, shouting orders to the legion.

"Come on, Legion, form the phalanx now! With haste men!"

Lok grins slightly and gets the halberd off his back and joins the phalanx. He locks shields and points his halberd outwards

Apophis joins the phalanx, and locks shields with the other men. His morningstar would prove useful for when they hit.

As the first man fell right next to Jareth he was immediatly prepared for battle, thanks to his training. He gave his Orders and rushed to his commander Marcus to protect him. He joins Marcus and the Centurions right before they charge into the Masses. With the heavy rain and only the light of the Moon the Centurions were nearly invisible thanks to their black Armor, so the Cultist had not much time to prepare before the impact. As he looked over the enemies he noticed a few with Silver Armor reflecting the Moonlight. "Not a good choice for a Battle at night" he thought as he threw one of his javelins at the biggest enemy he saw.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr he screamed short before the impact.

Apophis watches the charge impact the Cultists. He waits.

Sir Mitchell knew his enemy dearly. He hated them.

He and Marcus along with a few centurions charged towards the Priestess.

He had his Men join the back of the phalanx so if or when the enemy clashes into them, the Immortals with swing down their mighty claymores to to kill their enemies and to help out their Legion brothers.

The cultists never realized who they were attacking until the moonlight shone upon them.

The Legion Horse ever gallantly charged with the Immortal Hawk ready to strike upon their foes.

They clashed.

Marcus immediately headed towards the priestess, and got very close to her in seconds. Marcus aimed a strong, swift stab towards the priestess.

His thrust impaled the witch, killing her instantly, but the force of it all knocked him off his horse.

Penumbra stood on his place loyally, and Marcus mounted his horse hoping his men would have kept off all the Cultists at bay. He checks his surroundings for an enemy before making a move.

The impact shock his whole body as his shield knocked the other rider of his horse and into the darkness, a moment he struggled to remain seated. He regained controlle if his body right in time to lift his shield and stop the blow of a heavy Bardiche, the blow numbed his arm and the shield hung now losely at his side...strapped to his arm. He thrust quickly at the enemy, aiming for the free space between the helmet and the rest of the armor.

Lok hears movement behind him

"Who's there? So help me if your a snake cultist that somehow managed to flank us..."

Lok heard a voice without the typical dragging of the s

"No sir legionary, we are the immortals, we are to back up your phalanx.

Lok laughed briefly and then yelled out

FELLOW LEGIONARIES, IF THERE WAS ANY DOUBT OF US LOSING THIS BATTLE BEFORE THERE SHOULDN'T BE ONE NOW! THE IMMORTALS HAVE OUR BACKS.

With his right Arm bloodied up to the shoulder and and his left hanging limp at his side, Jareth must have been a queer sight, if only they could have seen him in this darkness. "If someone approaches from my left I'm as good as dead. I have to find a friend in this Dark place". With this said he rode hard towards his Grandmaster just mounting his horse. "Maybe he can guard my left and I his right side" he thought. But in his way are 10 meters full of Snake cultists. His heart skipped a beat as his horse lunged ahead. "Oh Father guard me in this hour of peril"

For having marched a days so from Sarleon, the party was ambushed miles north of Ethos.

Why is the Snake Cult up here? Are they after us?

That was going through Sir Mitchell's mind as he rode his horse up to a Cultist Armsman and decapitated him.

He was riding to defend Marcus as he tried to get back on Penumbra. He saw an Anaconda Knight from the bodyguard charge him. Sir Mitchell intercepted him and cut the horses neck killing it instantly and sending the flying snake into the air.

"Marcus! You must hurry, we need to join the phalanx. Their formations are leaderless and they will charge us in full force we must go!"

"Jareth! Back to the Phalanx!"

Sir Mitchell looked for anymore oncoming pursuers.

The phalanx was being bombarded by crossbow bolts, but the shields were holding. A few Legionaries were killed or were wounded as their legs were pierced by the steel bolts.

It was then the Cobra Warriors charged into the phalanx along with some dismounted men.

Some lines were pushed back but then the foes were killed as they moved farther in by backing units.

The Snake Cultists didn't seem to be retreating at all...

Apophis swing his morningstar at the closest enemy, and yelled at his comrades

Hold the line! They cannot lasst forever!

Lok stabs at the mounted man that charged into the phalanx in front him with his halberd

Kill them all! Glory for the shadow legion!

Marcus nodded at Mitchell to follow him. He had noticed a gap on the Cultist lines.

"Come.. I have a plan. Legion, moving out!"

The centurions threw an another volley of javelins into the nearest cultists to get away.

He noticed Marcus' reply with a nod and they headed back to the phalanx, now being followed by more of the bodyguard.

The Centurions were going straight towards their own phalanx, followed by the Cultists. When Marcus thought the moment was right, he ordered his Centurions to spread out and reorganize behind the phalanx.

"Centurions, spread out and to the back of the phalanx! Phalanx, VOLLEY!"

And all the men who had javelins threw a great volley at the snake cultists from medium range.

And so it was over. The following cultists were crushed and any smart ones retreated.

The rain kept pouring over everyone as they were quiet. Moans of the dying were heard.

In the back an Anaconda Knight was attempting to get up as he put his sword into the ground to use it as lift.

He looked up at the phalanx of Legionnaires and Immortals, then to Marcus and Sir Mitchell.

He then removed his helmet.

Apophis turned to the Anaconda Knight and watched.

Marcus rides up to the man, meaning to stab his sword through the man's head and kill him. Suddenly, understandment hits him.

"Dear Knight, what a journey... you came here to be killed? Knight, I know why you are here. You are trying to warn me. Never have I seen a much more laughable one. And you, snake, you will die on this spot."
