The group of knights slowly but surely makes there way down the street.
It is an odd sight to see the great grandmaster with the lowly intiate, Rineheart.
The grandmaster takes out his bow, and starts sniping the veccavians off the walls,towers,and rooftops while Blaze leads the front lines and Rineheart covers him from return fire.

Men! Your doing amazing work! Show these bastards how we fight in Pendor!

On the far side of the city, rising up like a cliff at the edge of the sea, lay the Veccavian royal palace. Around it lay its own wall, separate from the one that protects the inner city. Along it, over one hundred and fifty royal archers stand vigilant, awaiting the invading knights, and preparing to slaughter any that dare try to march on their queen. In front of them on the wall, a hundred male slaves stood ready, with shields up to protect their female masters as best they could. In front of the gates, the last organized remains of the city guard gathered. Nearly two hundred women and their slaves gathered themselves for a push into the city, to assist the remaining pockets of resistance that were quickly being snuffed out by the invading knights.

Leading the group was a woman in her mid-thirties, who at one time may have been beautiful, if it weren't for the large numbers of scars covering her body from head to toe. Her arms and legs were largely unprotected, aside from bracers, and her torso was guarded by a suit of chest plate, which ended in a plated skirt which fell to her knees. A short bow rested in a case hanging from her belt, like a scabbard, and on her back rested a quiver full of arrows never seen outside of Veccavia. She held a large, curved sword in both of her hands, as easily as if it were made of paper.

The woman finished issuing orders to the soldiers around her, before setting off into the city, intent on striking back at the invading army. As she marched, the pockets of resistance fought more fiercely, organized themselves into nearly twenty groups of Krom and Kral guards, all led by women looking similar to the one leading the city's main resistance.

And all seeming to converge on the Knights of the Dawn.

The inner walls were in sight, they were tall and white, but suddenly black streaks started staining the sky.

ARCHERS! yelled Rineheart, as arrows peppered the knights' shields.

"Men, split up into double columns, be quick about it!"

The knights raised their shields and split into two long lines against the walls of the buildings in the street

Aranor and Blaze kicked down the door to what looked to be a smithy, full of weapons.... especially arrows and some bows...
Aranor equipped his best skirmishers with him with the bows available and climbed to the roof while Blaze and Rineheart stayed with the knights on the ground. There were 14 knight-archers with Aranor

On the roof they started picking off the veccavian royal archers, with Aranor taking down at least 20 in only 10 minutes. He yelled down to Blaze "I will cover you, plans have changed, continue down the street in double column and clear every building!"

Aranor was an inspiring figure to the knights, firing his longbow and almost always hitting his target, the aim of the other knight-archers were not as good, but still got the job done.

Aranor looked at the center of the wall, and saw a woman, covered in scars...

*gestures at two of his berserkers*

*Blaze , his berserkers and a few dismounted KotD began clearing out the buildings.*

*Securing that building...he was confident that this will end up with the Pendor Invasion force victorious....*

*However, he begins to see that the defenders began to fight even more fiercely.... Then at the corner of his eye, he spotted a scarred woman............*

The Harlequin stretches his neck out and beckons over a few of his knights.

Sir Rascon send word to frederick's mettenheim and have him collect his forces and reunite with our knights and aid Sir Cauthan.

Sir Decser go to Sir Aranor and have him leave 3/4 of his men outside the inner city. the remaining 1/4 will attack the main veccavi force in front of the palace.

Sir Mat (fidelity) take half of our men and start trying to force your way into the palace. Take Queen Boadice with you. I expect to see her flag hoisted above the keep in short order do not fail me.

All of you take a few other men with you for protection. Go with all haste.

The Harlequin beckons over the remainder of his knights.

Companies A and B will go with Sir Mat for the push into the palace. C and D will come with me to flank the veccavi arrayed in front of the Dawn.

Platoon 1 of Company A will remain and guard the prisoners we have so far taken.

Everyone lets go.

With that The Harlequin makes a few deft gestures and everyone sets too what needs to be done. He will see his task completed.

an injured Thaddeus marches into the city once more, his men close behind, suddenly he is approached by a messenger.

"You are a part of company B, tasked with pushing to the palace, as the Veccavian forces have rallied and started to fire on the KOTD"

"Everyone!" Thaddeus booms "link up with Mat Cauthan, and you five, follow me"

A large ballista is spotted moving up the roads, just behind the KOTD, Thaddeus donning a massive shield with his only capable arm, intent on protecting his men and the ballista from snipers.

Four Ebony Gauntlet Knights easily rush the ballista up the road, trailing just behind Thaddeus, the fifth carrying a bundle of ammunition to be used with the ballista. It is quickly layed on the ground in a firing position that was in protection of the KOTD who where moving up the streets, clearing buildings. The ballista had a clear shot for the archers who were peckering the KOTD endlessly. A massive bolt is layed on the ballista, and it begins to aim for the archers.

"Fire!" Thaddeus shouts as the Ballista launches the bolt at incredible speeds, breaking the soft cover the archers where taking cover behind and cleaving through multiple people. "Fire at will!" he shouts as his shield takes a hailfire of arrows and bolts. The ballista is quickly reloaded and takes more shots at the archers, forcing them to fall back to heavy cover.

The foot-knights ,Blaze and his berserkers got pinned down in a corner of a street after securing the building there. Veccavian arrows are all over Blaze' position.

"We're under heavy fire!!" , shouts Pierre , one of Blaze' berserkers.

Blaze : "Hold this place and await Lord Aranor's command!Damn it! They got too many archers and we have too few shields"

Blaze and the foot-knights are forced to hold their advance till they could get return fire...

laying prone on the ground, Aranor had not realized the ebony gauntlet knights until the ballista had ripped away about 10 of them.

"HAHA! Good job my friends!"

Suddenly, a ebony gauntlet knight came up to the roof of the house and laid down next to Aranor

"Hello sir, I am sir Rascon, the Harlequin sent me, He wants me to inform you that you should only take 1/4 of your forces with you to the palace to kill what remains of the Veccavian resistance. The rest should stay out of the inner city."

Aranor nodded and told Rascon "Go tell the Harlequin I will comply."

Aranor beckoned to a retainer-archer who was near him, a men-at-arms friend of one of the knights, Girard.
"Girard go find Varis and tell him stay out of the inner city, and tell Wolfarmin to join up with Varis as soon as possible, do you understand?"

The retainer nodded and went off on his task.

Aranor told the rest of the knight-archers to come with him and went back to the street to meet up with blaze and the ebony gauntlets.
"Blaze, you and I are going together to the palace to wipe out what remains of these curs.. And hello Thaddeus, you came just in the nick of time. All knights who are not protecting the ballista, go inside a building and take cover!

Blaze:" As you wish Lord Aranor!"

"Berserkers and foot-knights!" *Gestures at a large building* " There! Take Cover over there ! I will accompany Sir Aranor into the palace."

"Pierre! You're in charge of them till Im back!"

Pierre: "Yes , M'lord!Knights ! On Me"

*Pierre leads them into the building*

*Blaze then follows Sir Aranor into the palace.Ever vigilant, his double headed axe bloody.*

The Judicator's had only cleared a handful of the residents on-route to the bazaar when the Veccavi attacked.

A cry came from the foot of the column from one of the Fersvain knights, "danten komman!"
An attack from the front. Already Varis and the Judicators began to hear the sounds of battle from where the Grandmaster led his troops.
He threw himself off his mount and ordered his men to do the same as he raced to the head of the column, "dismount, dismount and prepare to charge," he barked.
Making his way through the men and mounts he finally reached the column head; bondsmen led by Vaccavi witches were moving down the street towards them. He looked forward-top and caught a glint of armor.
"ARCHERS! TAKE COVER!"
Varis darted to a doorway on his right, pulling in an initiate by his mail sleeve and making room for as many more that can fit. Unfortunately there was only so much room.
The Veccavi fired a volley down the street. Varis could hear the arrows zip by through his open-houndskull. The horses whinnied loudly as they were hit, some galloped away back down the street they trotted upto. Some arrows thwacked against hardened shields brought to bear by the knights, some men cried out in pain as a lucky hit wounded them where their armor was at its weakest. Initiate Hamdal wasen't so lucky as an arrow drove straight through his throat as he tried to go for cover in front of him. Varis watched as the young squire went down clutching his throat, watching the blood foam at his mouth while his brothers desperately pulled him by his legs to wall that was shielding them.
Another volley of arrows whizzed by, some shattering by the pool of blood where Hamdal's dying body would have been.
Cowards.
The Veccavi warrior-maidens then shrieked a witches battle-cry and the boots of slave-warriors thundered down the cobblestone streets.
His longsword, Eos, drawn and thirsting for combat, he threw off his helm charging forth out of cover, "STRIKE BACK THE DUSK!"
A thunderous roar of knights followed their captain to the fray, a few of them armed with crossbows squeezed off a shot into the Veccavians watching them drop. The air cried havoc and the first clang of steel clashed on another.
Shifting his weight to his feet, Varis dodged around a Krom slave who thought himself the better. In one fluid motion taught by years of combat, Varis gripped his sword at its rain-guard and brought the edge of Eos's ridge to the back of the slaves neck. He felt the blade slice into his opponent, like slicing into a leg of meat. Watching his adversary fall to the ground, lifeless, the Judicator turned once more to the front parrying down another who would have thought to bring this veteran down.
Her face was far from that of a lady, more like a woman possessed, as she hurled herself upon the Judicator. Fighting like a rabid animal, the maiden jabbed and wildly slashed at Varis as he blocked as best he can, even bumping against another knight as he moved out of her chaotic attacks.
Undisciplined whore, the seasoned warrior thought.
Catching on the timing while feigning that he was giving ground, Varis stepped forward quickly bringing his nailed cross-guard into her face.
Varis didn't catch her look of surprise through all that blood, as she fell backward into the floor stunned. It didn't matter.
He finished her off just as he had done before with others, shoving down his blade through the maiden's chestplate into her fleshy breast.
Man, woman, they die all the same.
Like dogs of war, the Judicators tore through the Veccavians as they were trained to do. While some knights fell, the duty to defend a queen couldn't stand against the zeal of the Dawn: They answered to a higher authority.

As Sir Aranor and Blaze makes their way to the palace , they are confronted by 10-15 Kral Guards. Armed with spears and shield, they took position infront of the palace.................

Near the walls of the palace, where Boadice, the Harlequin, and the main army of Ebony Guantlet troops waited, a force of Veccavian troops approached. The nobles who had been cowering before Boadice not long before stood with their heads high. With them, stood their household troops. Mostly consisting of Krom and Kral guards, though each noble had Royal Archers in their employment, and a few in very high society commanded a group of knights.

The nobles themselves stood behind their Krom and Kral slaves, only a few able to approach Boadice and the gathered Ebony Guantlet knight due to lack of space on the streets. From behind their wall of slaves, one called out.

"Lady Boadice, you dare storm our city, and try to treat us like dogs? We are the high society of Veccavia, and you are nothing but a runt kicked out of her home. Your sister will reward us greatly for putting you in your place once more! Charge!"

With that final command, the slaves surged forward, followed by several Veccavian knights. A scene which repeated itself all along the Ebony Guantlets lines.

From some of the rooftops Royal archers took aim and fired, though most took what shots they could from the streets. From above, Royal Archers stationed along the palace's wall began firing as well...

The Knights of the Dawn were surrounded. Blocking their path towards the palace were two hundred Veccavian soldiers, many of whom had taken cover and were harrassing the knights with a steady stream of arrows from the street. Krom and Kral swarmed the order lines, and while they were not the most hard of troops, spears punched through thee knight's plate armor. A knight could slay five or six before he was overwhelmed, but the wounds added up as the fighting went on.

Overall, it could be called a slaughter of the male slaves. However, they were but the meat shield of the Veccavian forces. The lightly armored women, however, were another matter entirely.

Noone outside of the ones who survived the trials it took to become a Veccavian priestess knew the trials that the candidates had to go through. It was known however, that for every ten who were initiated, only one survived. They were at the highest place in Veccavian society save for the Queen, and only rarely seen outside of their home.

It was not a foe the Knights had ever encountered, but it became clear very quickly that the women were a threat.

Quite simply, when one began striking, it was nearly impossible to counter attack. The blows came too fast, and had too much strength behind them. Shields were quickly cut into useless pieces, and more than once a parry by the knight sent their own sword biting into their body.

And in the crowded streets, one on one fights were the most common. The knights had not lost any ground yet, but casualties were beginning to mount.

- In the crowded streets, both knighthood orders were under attack. And only a few soldiers had time to ponder a very serious question:

What of the Mettenheim?

ooc: Calm down Blaze!

Aranor, now armed with a heater shield and ebony noble sword (bling!) called forth 100 knights and their retainers. The rest were sent to help Varis

"KNIGHTS! TESTUDO!"
The knights all used their shields to make a sort of.. turtle.. they got through the gates with cover from the ballista, they disformed the testudo and made a tight formation, with Aranor and Rineheart at the front, followed by Blaze and his berzerkers, and then the rest of the knigths. They saw the palace, and charged. The veccavians were good, but when the knights saw their grandmaster leading them they were inspired, the veccavians were hacked to pieces..

In the midst of fighting Aranor saw the scarred woman he had spotted before, he called out to her, and challenged her.
The woman, clad in bright platemail, charged and battered at Aranor's heater shield, almost breaking it into two with her vicious battle-axe. Aranor was knocked to the ground, he had underestimated the strength of this she-devil, and the woman raised her axe and was about to bring it down. Aranor lifted up his splintered heater shield and withstood the blow.

Suddenly a sword came out of her stomach, and the woman started gurgling blood. The sword belonged to initiate Rineheart, who was covered in blood, and surprised at his success.

Aranor cut off the she woman's head and had Rineheart lift it up high for the men to see. They were inspired and fought with greater zeal, while the veccavians grew disheartened and surrendered. The knights of the dawn then executed them.

They started to attack the gate to the palace.

The harlequin in the middle of fighting sighs and raises his sword on high. He gestures to one of his knights.........

Ser, kill the prisoners.

ooc: (diablo you may want to read over the thread..... we have been going through the noble women's homes and collecting them and their children up...... how would it ever make sense to just let them go on their merry way and go arm and armor themselves.......... no not really. So now the vast majority of the veccavi nobles and their children will now die i guess?) Edit: i guess not misunderstanding

The harlequin shook his head at the bloodshed and proceeded to enter the fray more thoroughly.

Captains have the men assemble in the hedgehog formation. The Gauntlets quickly form a circular formation with an inner group of crossbowman. They begin using their crossbows to pick off the archers while protected by the outer ranks.

The Harlequin looks at the women who attack him and chortles. Look at how superior they think they are men, he booms across the killing field, they take us by surprise and kill a few of our brother knights and think themselves warrior goddesses. Do they not know we hone our skills fighting the Noldor our armor will turn the weak blows of their womanly bodies. We are men and there is a reason Veccavia is known for the oddity of woman warriors.

The Harlequin gestures to his honor guard and places Daedroth (not sure of name) in charge of the main force. He removes his helmet and drops his shield. He wields his hand a half sword easily and points it at the struggle where the KOTD are suffering. "honor guard boars tooth." The men of his honor guard arrange themselves in a wedge with the harlequin the tip of the spear.

All of a sudden the Harlequin takes an arrow in the shoulder. His men gasp yet he laughs and states, "no worries brothers this is mettenheim forged steel we wear and nothing short of noldor crafted work can pierce my plate.

With a roar the harlequin leads his honor guard to hit the veccavi assaulting Sir Aranors men.

"This isn't working, they're too scattered for the ballista to work!" "Comrades, let's go link up with out men, we will be more at use there!" Thaddeus shouts as his massive pincushion of a shield takes more arrows. "

"Let's go!" his knights confirm this by packing up the ballista and putting their shields on their backs, Thaddeus begins rushing down the streets, arrows from the archers hiding in the streets bouncing uselessly off their back shields and failing to penetrate their armor. He sees his ebony gauntlet men fighting with the Krom guard and man-slaves, but the area was far too cramped, and they would definitely hit their men in the back.

"Up the walls men!" Thaddeus orders, his men climb up the stairs with the ballista on their shoulders, trying to keep it from falling.
The walls towered over most of the city and in the distance, the palace walls where seen. The royal archers that where on the rooftops had spotted the ballista, and began firing at it, only for their shots to be bounced from Thaddeus's shield. This distracted them from shooting the KOTeG who where busy fighting the guard.

"Ignore the archers on the rooftop, fire at the mass of them on the palace walls!"

Massive bolts began veering towards the archers on the wall

Wolfarmin and his now dismounted riders finally spots Sir Varis troops,seeing Sir Varis pinned down by archer fire and to send his men directly int the line of fire he motions his crossbowmen to shoot at the royal archers on the rooftops and the rest to back Sir Varis troops until further orders

Wolfarmin then moves to Sir Varis position and finally he meets Sir Varis

"Are you ok brother, what can we do to help you"

Bam! An arrow slammed into his stomach.Blaze fell to his knees.....

"That....archer...pretended to be....dead...dammit!"

Immediately Sebastian kills that archer with his great sword while Pierre brings a wounded Blaze to see Jeff , the berserker's medic, who set up shop in a building 3 streets back, surrounded by his berserkers.

Jeff: "Luckily for u , m'lord, the arrow didnt pierce any of ur vital organs...It caused more pain than damage...however i advise you to rest.. leave the rest to us..

Blaze: "Dammit , I am not to be denied by just a bloody arrow..get me my axe before im really pissed"

*Jeff stares at Blaze for a long time. Finnally, hesighs and lets him go . *

"Blaze is too reckless sometimes.He really shud be more careful..."

*Slowly, a wounded Blaze moves towards the besieged palace..His berserkers accompany him except for a wounded berserker and Jeff tending to him.*

"Blaze I see you have returned to us!" said Aranor, now covered in the blood of the veccavians. Behind him were his knights fashioning a ram out of a fallen wooden pillar from a building near the palace.

"Ok men! Medics go take the wounded to that building over there! and knights, form a shield wall behind the ram! One fire arrow and its done!"

The ram was capped with several knight's heater shields tied around the tip with the points on the bottom facing the gate, with the pillar itself also being sharpened.

The ram team rammed the door again and again, it was starting to give way after the 10th ram.

Aranor looked behind him and wondered "Where in the 7 hells are the mettenheim?" then he imagined the worst.....

what if the mettenheim..... were looting?

Observing Sir Aranor distress Blaze said "The Mettenheim?"

Sir Aranor nodded.

"Didnt see them on my way back here...but the biggest problem is what they are looting and illegally taking prisoners...and if the prisoners are the gentry..." (he nid not realise that Sir Aranor thoughts coincide with his)

Realizing that Sir Varis is busy with fighting Wolfarmin order his knights to destroy every enemy they can find in the name of Astrea, with that order the knights seemed to have tapped into a new strength, they killed the Veccavian soldiers like they were cows to a slaughter.

Wolfarmin takes out his crossbow and fires at the Royal Archers on the rooftops killing many, soon he realizes he is being swung at wildly with a sword, Wolfarmin takes out his wooden shield with silver plate on the face and his silver warhammer with the body of Astrea pertruding from the back in a flying like motion (bling bling)

"They shall all fall in the name of Astrea"

Wolfarmin then crashes his warhammer on the head of a Veccavian soldier and that's when Astrea gave favor for the knights of the Dawn
