William looked slightly confused at the mention of bandits but said "Of course."

" At once my lord, if I may lord it was most wise of you to choose to support Sir Iobairt in his efforts to remove the bandits, they are a plauge that must be removed. "

Seph then marching from the building gathered up 10 of the militia and sent them to gather all of the villages of Rebarche infront of the tower house and sent 2 more to inform Sir Moorsburgh and Sir Blackwood to attend as well.

1 hour later the crowd gathered outside the tower house to await the baron as Seph returned to the study.

"Your people await you my lord."

William walked in front of those assembled where all could get a clear veiw.
"Good people of Rebache. Sir Iobarit has given me an offer that involves giving him citizens of Rebache in order to further his own gains. In his offer he states that he will give information regarding the baronet of Yaragar. The terms he has given me do not seem at all trustworthy, and therefore I have decided to go back on our agreement. Rebache will not be fooled into this plot of his" William then turned to Iobrait's messengers and said.
"Go back to your master and tell him, "Rebache does not agree."" William then sent 3 guards to escort the messengers outside of Rebache's.

Sir Ealdred listened to what the baronet said and nodded in agreement when he was finished. Perhaps this baronet is not that bad at all, he grumbled to Jacob standing beside him. At least he knows how to deal with shady requests unworthy of a noble. - Now, back to training. You haven't received your daily beating yet.

He strode off towards the training ground in the courtyard and Jacob followed him with a sigh.

The guards shrugging turn together one turning back briefly to respond before leaving.

"It has long been known you are a fool and have no honor, take heed of this good people of Rebache your lord goes back on his sworn word and refuses to assist with destroying the bandits who make your life hard, if any of you would stand up against these bandits and strike them down then follow us and together we shall destroy them and make the land a safer place for all our families."

(( Action, the guards attempt to persuade people to follow them against the lords wishes. ))

"So in turn you offered to give information about Yaragar. If you truly needed help then you could have just requested the help of my owned fully trained men instead of making untrained common men do the job and most likely get slaughtered. No, this was not a request to take out bandits that you could easily handle with your own men.

" You would of placed trained men under the command of another man? I think not. We sought these men because they are the ones suffering and they are the ones with the greatest reason to fight.

But what would you know of that? These attacks have been going on for years and you have not lifted a finger to stop them in all that, in my lands bandits are all eradicated, my lord hunted them down and destroyed them in defence of his people and he had far less people and far less soldiers then you!!.

The squire was still sitting under his tree outside the gate of the townhouse, looking more and more displeased as the hours went by. Anything to ease the boredom after Jacob had been recalled by his master was welcome, and this gathering was just such a diversion, so he listened intently.

Seph standing a little ways behind the baron flinches upon hearing the guards words and a look of pain settles on his face.

"My lord I fear that what you just did was a grave mistake, I pray that we do not all come to regret it.

I know something of those lands having travelled a great deal while in trainin, what the guards say is true, the baron of Kelredan did little to aid them but the Iobairt brothers and their father were well known for huntng bandits to their dens and destroying them.
What is more in my time here you have made no attempt to track the bandits down, you have raised defenses it is true but that is of little worth to the villages who must move outside of that protection.
"

"Who said anything about placing them under the command of another, I would have one of my men to fight with you in a joint operation to take out these so called bandits. In terms of your lies about me not lifting a finger to take out these bandits that is just simply not true. When I became the baronet of Rebache it was after my master Sir Greenwood died in a bandit raid. I fought off the rest of the bandits and saved Rebache after which I raised an army to defend Rebache, the town watch having been all killed that night, and with that army destroyed the surronding bandits. I of all people can not be said to have not done everything to protect there people from bandits. The fact also stands that Kelredan is also a mighty castle with an army to equal mine, so I doubt bandits would bother attacking you whn they can attack less dangerous targets. It wouldn't have been very hard to eradicate bandits from your masters lands."

Noticing there was still commotion although the baronet had already spoken his mind Ealdred interrupted the training and came back to the townsquare. He observed the situation for a moment to understand what was going on, then he addressed the baronet.

Sir, it is below your standing to argue with such mendicants. I'd recommend giving each of them twenty lashes for their insolence, but I assume chasing them off would do the job, too.

Sighing Seph draws his sword and shield then approaching the 2 guards he points his blade at them and orders them to move on while whispering just loudly enough for them to hear.

"Tell you lord I support his point of view and will do what I can to aid him in destroying the bandits."

Looking at the point of the blade for a moment the 2 guards turned and took off running in the direction of Yaragar as fast as possible.

William walks back to where every person can see him and says "You may all return to your homes, now. Thank you for coming."
He then walks over to the assembled knights of Rebache "Meet me in my manor, we need to get together a plan."

I wonder where he's going?

Day 3, Dusk

Open the gate! the guard called and as the wooden gatedoors swung apart the small party padded into the courtyard of the baronet's holdfast. The two bandits were deprived of their armour and possessions and sent to the dungeons while the stablemaster took care of the injured horse.

Call the surgeon, Sir Hounds and the baronet, the knight commanded. The squire is dead and this one needs immediate help. Two guards took Olaf to a simple room and a third ran off to deliver the Messages.
Waiting the knight assessed the equipment gotten from the bandits and Olaf. There was a Olaf's double axe, a set of throwing axes, a dented half plate armour with a crude lion painted on it, an equally dented shield, two simple swords, a crossbow and some ragged leather armour. In addition the purses of the bandits yielded 35 Denars [1d100 x 0.5] and 11 Denars [1d100] respectively.

Seph arrived a short time later alongside the surgeon.

"Treat him enough to keep him alive for now but nothing more, do not waste your time on him until we know whether he is going to be allowed to live or not."

Then turning to the knight and motioning him aside he followed.

"What happened to my squire?""

The knight's gaze was hard, his expression unmoved - there was only one way to avoid going mad when you had spent years on Pendor's battle fields.

The Sheriff collaborated with the bandits as it seemed and struck the squire with his axe when he did not expect it.

"I feared that would happen, well done for capturing him and his.... friends alive, we can get the location we need out of them and at least Kalam will not have died for nothing.
I'll take his possessions and that of the bandits and arrange what to do with them with the baronet, you are free to go I'm sure you could use some time to clean up.
"

Turning to the surgeon again fists clenched in anger he snarled.

"Move him to a private room in the dungeon, keep him securely bound."

Then to a pair of guards.

"Have the bodyguard Ryn securely bound and then taken to the same room, he is to be chained to the wall."
